Re: Housing Developments | Northern Suburbs
1000sqm blocks in suburbs wasn't the standard size, go look at the suburbs, Henley Beach South, Elizabeth's, etc 1950s subdivisions average block size 600sqm to 950sqm, the larger blocks are the more triangle shaped blocks, the 1/4 acre block never really existed, it was more a 1/5 acre block 800sq...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
Although they were putting Christmas Trees up inside, there were about 10 guys with Hi-vis vests around the outside pointing. this must mean things are about to get serious. If you're referring to RMP, there's already been a lot of internal work done. They've completely removed all the old internal...

Re: Housing Developments | Northern Suburbs
Never? Oh, maybe my childhood and youth, when we all grew up on 1/4 - acre blocks (1000 sq m) at Grange, Henley Beach, Fulham, West Beach and Glenelg with sheds, pigeon coops, swimming pools out back was an illusion then. My bad. I'll let my old buddies know. Thanks. It only seemed big because we w...

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Network
Sorry I'm thinking about the Hills in my post. I think most would agree that the better way to get to Victor from Adelaide would be via Seaford, but the point is there is a rail corridor already there through Mount Barker. Still operational too if you count the Steamranger. There'd need to be a gau...

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Network
While regional services might be a good idea coupled with identified economic activities, this proposal is really out there. The travel times, as others have indicated, are wildly optimistic, and the estimated cost seems to be in 1970's dollars. But the biggest "wait a minute" quotes are: ...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
I was referring to a "major retailer" moving in to where Woolworths currently is. Ah right, sorry, carry on... :) My money is on Woolworths. Woolworths will be opening at the West Franklin development, presumably a full-size supermarket. I'd say their aim is downsize and go for the Southe...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
If it does end up being Woolworths, having them relocate would free up a rather large, prime and I would suggest, in high demand site in the centre of the mall... Vodafone would have to go too, its a weird arrangement with that tenancy taking up half the mall frontage. Not at all. If it's a superma...

Equality, right? Are you being stupid on purpose or are you seriously unable to see the difference? Don't know if it's on purpose, but all he seems to be able to do is copy paste other people's debunked logical fallacies. If he went that one step extra and googled what he's about to post he would f...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
Yes it was the original Dazzeland.
Al lot of Adelaide's grand buildings (and some not so grand) used to be department stores.

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Network
On that note, I am not a total fan of the Perth model, but it works here. Most immigrants to Perth want a sprawling home 10 minutes from the beach. The Mitchel and Kwinana freeways and associated bus/train infrastructure have encouraged this, creating a metro area now from Mandurah to Yanchep some ...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn
All communication re progress, opening routes, stops etc, seems to have gone very quiet lately. If they are still planning on a late December opening(maybe December 17th?) I would have thought they might be starting to do some publicity, marketing by now. With the changes to Currie and Grenfell Streets...
