Re: SA Economy

I think it’s more employment/jobs being the key to population growth (both coming in and reason for those leaving). Until there is significant change in employment and the types of jobs, I expect our limited population growth to continue. Tasmania isn't an economic powerhouse but still they have hi...

Re: SA Economy

If we are serious about increasing our population growth, we should double-down on our tourism industry and aim to replicate Tasmania’s success. Some ideas that come to mind are: vastly expanding our spring festival offering in Oct and Nov, fast-track a Glenelg to KI ferry service and fast-track th...

That’s fucking pathetic. This government .... Back on topic indeed before I start rambling. :wallbash: You're frustrated that they pulled the funding for the fashion festival, but then you didn't notice that the event had been cancelled. That's my point exactly, nobody cared about the fashion festi...

Re: News & Discussion : New Restaurants, Bars & Night Clubs

Yes it used to cartoons nightclub back in the 1990's. Before the redevelopment, the upstairs section (which was
cartoons) was dormant I believe.

It will be interesting to see what happens now. Who's going to buy an oversized night club which isn't profitable ?

Re: News & Discussion : New Restaurants, Bars & Night Clubs

HQ holds 2300 people, thats insane. How many staff have lots their jobs? It would be mind boggling the amount of money it makes on a Friday or Saturday night. There's a lot of turnover of patrons throughout the night in nightclubs, that could be 5000+ people coming and going. Spending $15 million o...

Hardly recognise Adelaide in that photo - loving the foreground and background combo!
And to think that the previous labor government preferred to waste money on a motorsport festival and a pathetic fashion festival which
nobody cared about.

Harris Scarfe has gone broke

The CBD retail thread was getting filled up with Harris scarfe discussion so I've started another thread. Some people have said they went broke in 2001 and then kept on operating so this could happen again. What rubbish, in 2001 there was no such thing as online shopping. The market was completely d...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

I agree with the sentiment to bulldoze and start again... bring in a few big international retailers and it could become a thriving multipurpose hub. It's worth tens of millions of dollars Bulldoze it and replace it with what? .......A newer building full of shops ? Sent from my SM-J730G using Tapa...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

I have no sympathy what so ever for retailers such as Harris scarfe and radio rentals. If you look at what has happened in the US and how popular Amazon is, you don't need to be a genius to work out that the same thing is going to happen in Australia. Facebook marketplace is also a popular tool, whe...
