Re: #VIS: CBD Tram Loop

I'm not against the idea of a City Loop in any way - but I don't think the CBD has the traffic to justify splashing millions and millions on such a layout. It's not quite justified, logically speaking. Why? * You need to get people into the CBD via tram, first. So this means constructing tramlines f...

[COM] Re: PRO: Goodwood - Bowden rail grade seperation project | $

Logically, yes. But I'm not so sure now, given this part:
A spokesman for Transport Minister Pat Conlon said the works had been costed at about $418 million and would need funding from the state and federal governments to go ahead.

[COM] Re: PRO: Goodwood - Bowden rail grade seperation project | $

Shouldn't Federal money be able to fund the whole project, given that its main purpose is to separate metropolitan railway line(s) with the interstate freight line? If I remember right, when this first surfaced last year, it was always going to be a federally-funded project. Correct me if wrong.

Gotta love the Liberals of old. 'Let's build a freeway down south! But.. who cares about funding it properly. Just have it run in one direction, and we're cool.'

Re: #U/C: Darwin Waterfront Redevelopment

What's the latest with this, out of curiosity? Unrelated to the above question, I'm currently doing an article review about this very development. Basically this article talks about how Darwin's long-term residents got the rough end of the stick with this, and how it's a clash of external vs. intern...

Re: #PRO: Port Adelaide Tram | #COM: Entertainment Centre Tr

In all honesty, I believe taking the tramline straight to the Outer Harbor line is just laziness. It would be better to take it straight down the middle of Port Road. Come on SA, use some imagination. Also, yes, raising the tramline if it is to be connected just around the corner from its current te...

Re: #U/C: Northern Expressway | 22km

Nearmap imagery has been updated (taken on June 14). Indeed, NExy looks to be more or less complete for about 90% of its length, but sadly we are unable to see beyond the Gawler River.

Re: #UC: Noarlunga - Seaford rail extension

If the Seaford extension proves successful geographically and economically, then the next step should be conversion of the O-Bahn to rail. This can then be connected to Adelaide Railway Station via an underground link.

Speaking of how it'd be marked in a street directory, wouldn't it be represented as a freeway/expressway (dual green lines for most versions)?

But how much idea do you have? What was the net loss from the State Bank? What are you driving at, Aidan? The Bannon government's initial bailout alone was $970M - adjusted for inflation that's about $1.5B at present value. Ultimately the state was guarantor for debts that totalled about $7B and dr...

[COM] #PRO: Northern Connector | 14km

DTEI has put up the proposed layout of the Northern Connector on the website. http://www.infrastructure.sa.gov.au/northern_connector It can be viewed by downloading the brochure (on the right-hand side of the page). I'm liking the 'big city thinking' with a more proper approach to planning interchan...
