[U/C] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

If you're going for a South African cricket ground, choosing a rugby stadium over the Wanderers? Seriously? Newlands is also (a separate) cricket ground and is overlooked by Devil's Peak, part of Table Mountain. Wanderers is in Johannesburg. Although a nice ground it doesn't have the awesome backdr...

Well, it will take more than a pesky virus to wipe S-A out. Together we will win and be stronger than before.

As for this building, well, if the foreign student market doesn't recover, I'm sure it can be used for low income housing, or converted into a budget hotel.
Getting back on topic, yes the developer should keep this in mind.

Re: Deregulation of Shop Trading Hours

Only two places should be open during a lockdown, supermarkets or stores where people can buy groceries (food etc.), and hospitals/medical centres. And the truck companies that move their stock. And the warehouses where the stock comes from. And the producers and importers of the goods. And the mec...

Re: Deregulation of Shop Trading Hours

I think they'd have to shut for more then a few days. That resort in the Barossa yesterday with the infected American tourists is shut for 14 days now. Isn't that because that's where these people are staying and perhaps have infected others at breakfast, in the lounge or at the reception? So a loc...

Coles is supposedly recruiting 5000 new staff. If they don't have too many people off work for coronavirus illness or isolation, they will soon have some extra staff available to fill some of those gaps. and They'd be hiring more also in anticipation of many staff being sick and going into quaranti...

Coles & Woolies are struggling to supply their stores. It's not just the stores struggling now, but the distribution centres. There's literally no point in doing this, because within an hour of stores opening, the essential supplies that everyone is trying to hunt down are gone. They do not get aro...

Re: Deregulation of Shop Trading Hours

Rev , you've got valid points there. I personally would prefer to shop away from others if I could go at any time after midnight until 6am (usual supermarket opening time) whether there is stock or not. Of course there will be stock not availaible even at that time such as bakery products unless yo...

The army can setup temporary accommodation very quickly for disasters, they have the capacity and the resources to get it done. Why not use stadiums? Oh wait, that would require the government to actually LEAD and cancel all sporting events first. How many ovals or horse racing tracks are out there...

Personally I think our government is even worse then pretending nothing bad is going to happen. They're only doing what they are doing because of public pressure. That's your personal opinion. The government itself is only repeating what they have been advised by the Chief Medical Officer, the Depu...

No the tourism will not take a long time to recover. If we manage this virus with the isolation it deserves we'll be back to normal soon by end of year. The Chinese although secretive early on, and perhaps slow in a reaction, with the help of their political system have enforced a lockdown that now...
