Re-Imagining the Adelaide Bus Network
So I'm stuck in iso at the moment and it got me thinking about revisiting the much-maligned overhaul of the Adelaide Bus Network. Overall I found it to be quite positive, and just needed a few tweaks here and there to fill in a number of the gaps it left. So with my time at home, I went to task adju...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Light rail in tunnels won't ever and should never happen. Absolute rubbish.....plenty of cities around the world want to get their trams/light rail vehicles off the surface of crowded city streets to speed up the service. Here's a Wikipedia article to explain it in simple terms. https://en.wikipedi...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Converting the Outer Harbor line won't happen after the Torrens Junction project. Why not? The junction was designed to cater for both scenarios. If it does get converted, then the line will join the road at War Memorial Dr and connect to King William Rd in front of Adelaide Oval. Light rail in tun...

Why not? That's how the Eastern states get things done! Announce now. Work out the details later.

[COM] Re: Flinders Rail Link
Back then, Noarlunga was a station on the WIllunga Railway which used a different route than now past Hallett Cove. South Road looked a lot different to what we now want to see upgraded. Kinda, but not quite. The Noarlunga station on the old Willunga line was nowhere near the current Noarlunga Stat...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses
The ON-DEMAND bus service is from Outer Harbor to Largs Bay only. I am at Glanville it is a bit hard to push a wheelchair up the ramp at the Port Adelaide train station or push over one of the bridges and it cost a bit when you need to go to the Port 3 or 4 times a week. The new bus network still h...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses
I also suggested a major change to the cross town 300/301 route. I proposed that the route stay the same from Marion all the way round back to the western suburbs but that it ends at Adelaide Airport. Shorter, easier to keep to timetable and "destinations" at either end.....not just a cro...

Re: Bus contract overhauls - Our suggestions
I'm not a huge fan of the massive suburban loop. I think you can combine and split with some of the other cross-suburban routes to provide much greater utility. I propose adjusting the 300/301, 312, 313 and 321 into three connector routes. This provides greater options for West Beach residents, brin...

Go for a drive down there and make a post suggesting where you think a bike lane would fit after Chief Street on that side of the road. The project isnt about widening Torrens road and adding a dedicated bike lane, so why would it be done..even if there was room without having to widen the entire r...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses
Meanwhile, in Canberra, they're increasing services: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-06-16/more-bus-services-each-weekday-in-canberra-in-network-overhaul/12357928 Exactly. And how can Canberra justify these services? They recently went through an overhaul of their own network. When the tram came o...

Bus contract overhauls - Our suggestions
Given the drastic changes that are proposed to other contract areas, I was thinking about what a significantly overhauled Outer North area would look like. I believe that the outer suburbs have long since deserved high-frequency and more direct routes. I think there are also a lot of routes that can...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Contracts, Service & Policy
In Sydney they do not have transport passes, all transactions are a " one off payment". Yes, but with automatic daily and weekly caps as in many transport systems around the world. How hard is it for us to do the same? Using you credit card is just like using your opal card. It waits to t...
