Re: Your Favourite High-rise Building in Adelaide

Interesting fact about the Telstra building in Flinders St. There are 6 chimneys at the back of the building for the generators however only 5 chimneys could ever be operational. Apparently the designer wanted balance so in went the 6th chimney. A bit like the titanic where the 4th funnel wasn't ope...

Re: Mawson Lakes - Not just another suburb

Just been told by the Mrs that the latest street directory shows a proposed shopping centre on the corner of Main North Rd and Elder Smith Rd. I've never heard of this. I'll post more detail once I see the street directory. Anyone know anything about this?

My applause was for the constant bickering between Jim and Rhino. Although I do admit that I may have started the initial arguing!

However mattblack I do agree with your comments. Slow and steady does win the race but try telling the average Adelaidean knocker that :wallbash:

[U/C] Re: South Road Upgrades - Discussion thread

In my opinion, it's not practical to decide at this point in time, which order the different projects should be done in, because as each project is completed, it has the ability to change the nature of the road use along other parts. For instance, the building of the connector from South Road to Ja...

[U/C] Re: South Road Upgrades - Discussion thread

Jim you keep talking about induced demand. I do understand your point as moving bottlenecks from one point to another doesn't always solves problems however think outside the square. We don't need AdelaideNoweans on this site. Do your research and understand why the Superway is getting built. Withou...

[COM] Re: #PRO: Southern Expressway duplication | $445m | 22km

I think that the duplication of this expressway should not go ahead, I feel it's a waste of taxpayers money, have the advisors to the politicians that make these commitments not told them of the theory of induced demand? If this goes ahead it will encourage people to use it and it will clog up and ...

Common sense on the roads of Adelaide

Hi all, This discussion is to be based on everyday common sense and logic on our roads. Mods I know this isn't development based however it does have a lot to do with planning for future roads etc. Recently I came back from some time spent in UK and Europe and I did a lot of driving in England, Wale...

[COM] Re: #PRO: Southern Expressway duplication | $445m | 22km

Hi all, Driving to work yesterday and today I saw some workers with theodolites around the Darlington interchange. I'm assuming this is all part of the duplication plan. Still can't believe this is actually going to happen. I remember last year when I went to the traffic management centre in Norwood...

Hi all, I know this is slightly off topic but it was in those glory Dazzeland days, but does anyone remember the Lego competitions that Myer ran with the opening of Dazzeland? I had a friend who got in the finals and won some lego sets. I remember the first couple of weeks the place was packed! Sad ...

COM: Main South Rd / Victor Harbor Rd Intersection Upgrade

Hi all, During my weekly drives down to Victor Harbor I've noticed the large amount of roadworks appearing on the intersection of Victor Harbor Rd and Main South Rd. It looks an extra lane is being added by can't quite make sense of it. I've been searching around this forum and online to see what th...

Hi Rhino, Cheers for the welcome! Much appreciated. I agree with some of your points and understand that it may produce bottlenecks but it's something that will need to be done right. Not a bandaid fix. Not only do i travel from Gawler to Mile End every day but i also travel to Victor Harbor usually...

[COM] Re: South Road Upgrade

Hi all, This is my first post on this website. I too am sick of the douches commenting on AdelaideNow. To me this is absolutely fantastic. Maybe it's a way of the future to maintain an overhead freeway all the way to the southern expressway? I'm currenlty living up at Gawler and travel to Mile End e...
