[PRO] Re: 188 Grenfell Street | 64m | 19 Levels | Student Accom
All getting into a tangent though, because the case isn't that it should stay purely because the tenancy is a profitable business, but because it's part of the active lived heritage of the area, and that sort of heritage is more than just a facade.

:) The people that run the pub don't own it. They lease the space from the current landlord. They could be running a profit for all we know, but the landlord can choose not to extend the lease if they want to develop it. The Cranker (and the other venues they run on the site) are very successful and...

The concrete channel seems absolutely required though unfortunately, at peak periods the water flow through there is massive and the drains are part of the infrastructure for preventing potential flooding of the area, have often thought how wonderful it would be if it could be more similar to the T...

Re: News & Discussion: Cycling
The South Road publicity material with all it's talk of green space and community improvements (90% of which will end up as dead gravel based on other sections) mentions a possible bike/cycle path there. I imagine it's a bit more outside the councils hands right now. This propose plan turns the curr...

Re: Allow high density building in the South
The government keeps approving developments in the southern neighbourhoods, such as Christies Beach, Seaford, Aldinga. But all those developments are houses, and none of them add density, which is essential for a vibrant area. Seaford has the potential to become a satellite city but it needs to bec...

Re: News & Discussion: Other Metropolitan Developments
It's sad to lose a physical venue like this but the building itself isn't that impressive and the business in it had failed, so time to let someone else try something new with the site.

Re: Cycling lane from Brighton to Largs Bay along the coast
Yeah in the areas where it does exist the shared path along the foreshore is great. Make that better connected and widen it in some spots if necessary if better cycling links are needed.

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
the majority of people that use Adelaide Airport aren't wishing to travel into the CBD But once in the CBD it is so much easier to get anywhere else by public transport. That is why other airports in major cities have convenient airport links to their CBDs. Whenever I fly to Melbourne or Sydney, I ...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Ahh, never change, Adelaide: Big Country Town Mentality. Go to line isn't it chilli. Used multiple times now on the tram thread and train thread and again on the parlands thread. Priorities change over time which require greater focus and more importantly $$$ (such as ramping). I'm sure Labour woul...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
It was a few years ago now, but back in 2022 Federal Money was earmarked for an "Airport Link" from Torrensville to the Airport. It's not a train, or a tram, but in my opinion would have been better than nothing. https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/south-australia/pm-to-reveal-final-piece...

nothing will happen because it "isn't needed" right until the point where the traffic situation becomes so bad it is gridlocking the area I live in the area between SDB, HBR and South Road, and trust me when I say it's already gridlocked for much of the day. I live around there as well an...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
It's a shame that they are a running joke nowadays, because otherwise I think it would be seriously worth suggesting a Sir Donald Bradman Drive monorail between the city and airport. A tram seems like the best compromise option though, can't see the investment in a heavy rail tunnel ever stack...
