[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Tower 1 | 115m | 27 Levels | Office

On another note re this precinct....those gum trees in front of the festival centre!!?? Can anyone imagine large eucalypts in front of the Sydney opera house? Trees in the park that give year round shade? The horror! I'm not opposed to trees in the park. Its just that given the prominence of the Fe...

Re: News & Discussion: Laneway & Streetscape Projects

Yeah, Grenfell Street (and Currie Street) need a massive uplift, but that should be combined with some form of State Govt PT plan.

Up close during the day it still looks pretty bad, but at nighttime quite good.

[PRO] Re: 188 Grenfell Street | 14lvls | 46m | Mixed Use

What sort of min-maxed cheap student housing block is ever going to have money spent on sound proofing? It wouldn't, but that's kind of the point. The problem isn't necessarily any sort of large development on this side of the city, and trying to fight that fight would absolutely be a losing battle...

[PRO] Re: 188 Grenfell Street | 14lvls | 46m | Mixed Use

why don't they just build this on the partially demolished Wright Street Hotel or the partially demolished King's Head hotel instead, since there's nothing else going on there right now. Or build it on the low-rise Wilson's parking next door. Literally anywhere else is better than this. So many der...

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development

Is the Telstra 67-69 Waymouth St telephone exchange being reclad? I notice both the front and western side have small bracket frames attached to large parts of these walls. We had a bit of a discussion about it last year when it was noticed that part of the building had paint stripes and a few pane...

This is definitely not sensational. If anything, it needs to be set back further and retain the existing space for a live music venue. http://wp.indaily.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/1200x800_borg-cube-over-cranker.jpg?resize=1313,876&quality=90 It's a pretty low quality image, not sure wha...

If you want a real laugh read the pathetic heritage impact statement in the planning submission.

Views are a privilege and not a right. if you pay good money for a beachfront property, then the government decides to close the beach, that's the equivalence we're dealing with here Bit more like if you paid good money for a modern 2-storey luxury house just behind a small 1-storey beachfront shac...

Generally in these situations yeah, but it's a great example of how this development is being given public land to build an office tower on, and being given an advantage over other businesses with their development that has had the rules changed for it and no-one else got a chance to compete on.

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

I said plantation they're still trees aren't they? yes or no? do you need a science lesson? Are you under the impression that the reason the pine plantation was cut down was to make room for the solar panels? The reason is unimportant. The fact they were cut down and not replaced with new trees, bu...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

I was driving up South Road past the Happy Valley reservoir this afternoon and noticed they'd chopped down a whole plantation forest which has been there since I was born and replaced it with solar panels so much for 'green energy' From what I recall, it was always regarded as a commercial p...
