Re: Cycling lane from Brighton to Largs Bay along the coast

Yeah in the areas where it does exist the shared path along the foreshore is great. Make that better connected and widen it in some spots if necessary if better cycling links are needed.

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

the majority of people that use Adelaide Airport aren't wishing to travel into the CBD But once in the CBD it is so much easier to get anywhere else by public transport. That is why other airports in major cities have convenient airport links to their CBDs. Whenever I fly to Melbourne or Sydney, I ...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Ahh, never change, Adelaide: Big Country Town Mentality. Go to line isn't it chilli. Used multiple times now on the tram thread and train thread and again on the parlands thread. Priorities change over time which require greater focus and more importantly $$$ (such as ramping). I'm sure Labour woul...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

It was a few years ago now, but back in 2022 Federal Money was earmarked for an "Airport Link" from Torrensville to the Airport. It's not a train, or a tram, but in my opinion would have been better than nothing. https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/south-australia/pm-to-reveal-final-piece...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

nothing will happen because it "isn't needed" right until the point where the traffic situation becomes so bad it is gridlocking the area I live in the area between SDB, HBR and South Road, and trust me when I say it's already gridlocked for much of the day. I live around there as well an...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

It's a shame that they are a running joke nowadays, because otherwise I think it would be seriously worth suggesting a Sir Donald Bradman Drive monorail between the city and airport. A tram seems like the best compromise option though, can't see the investment in a heavy rail tunnel ever stack...

Re: News & Discussion: Cycling

Great to hear this is happening, I thought for sure that Crowne Plaza would have found some way to push back against it.

Just need to say bugger off to the lawyer NIMBYs now and get the East/West one built!

Where are the renders? If this is so close and they are demolishing are we almost at approvals? Have I missed something?
The link in the post before this one has more details, they aren't that far along yet.

I suspect demolition is more about ongoing security of the site.

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

It's wild how quickly that market has developed, when it was only a few years ago the former Federal government was dismissing the entire concept of battery storage as unrealistic in any form.

One good thing to come out of this is push back on façadism as a way of maintaining heritage. Wearing the old building as a skin, and gutting everything past 30cm deep has always felt like such a minimum effort approach, and implies that heritage is about what something looks like on the surface an...

Although rev has a pretty bad take, he's a radical pro-development so I'm not surprised. I attended the protest. Why? Well my first beer was had there... it was a coopers pale... yes I was under-age but still it has a beautiful place in my heart. Also, when I went through my emo phase, plenty of ba...

But if I was to protest, I certainly wouldn't chose to protest about some shitty run down pub that the owners are proposing to knock down and redevelop into something else. Yes, we're all well aware of the things you get emotionally invested in protesting. https://www.sensational-adelaide.com/forum...

What about a BOLD VISION and a parking tower?

500m tall, with car elevators putting cars into position. A gleaming beacon for all to see of the MIGHTY CARS authority over this city, a WORLD CLASS landmark to attract visitors from around the world.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

To me, the bigger questions are why we would want commuter rail from these extreme outer suburbs and county towns to feed in to Adelaide City. If it's available, the "induced demand" argument will fill these outer suburbs with people intending to commute to Adelaide, then complaining abou...
