“Upmarket” [emoji23] Upmarket for many students is buying the fancier brand of instant ramen for 80 cents a packet instead of the 40 cent ones, it's all relative Actually, I'd guess that for most rooms the sqm rent will be higher than in the new next door building.... Re: Magill/Portrush Road Intersection Upgrade | $98m

The Greenhill/ Portrush is terrible, but only from a Greenhill perspective. - given Cohen's are expanding BV, it's going to get more expensive (They can't do the other side is council chambers) Portrush/GlenOsmond - cost a motza, will need Fed funds Portrush/Parade or Kensington - terrible but only...

[PRO] Re: Ovingham Level Crossing Removal | $231m

This will be road over rail. Footings for masts for the Gawler Line Electrification Project have already been cast on the outer sides of both platforms of Ovingham Railway Station. So, sadly, this project will benefit cars and road vehicles only, and a station expansion or upgrade looks highly unli...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

Victoria is gradually extending its Western Freeway (continuation of the Dukes Highway) out towards SA, but I think even their long-term plan only does it as far as Ararat. The worst bottleneck now is the Swanport Bridge. Duplicating that adds over 20km to the continuous four-lane highway from Glen...

Re: Magill/Portrush Road Intersection Upgrade | $98m

Back on this topic, I wonder if anybody did the cost comparison for building a bridge/overpass rather than just a much bigger traffic light intersection, after they had decided that even the traffic lights need so much property acquisition. It is probably the worst intersection on Magill Road, but ...

https://cdn.newsapi.com.au/image/v1/069372b1c9637951e06e79bdda95b2e3?width=1024 If we accept Portrush Road needs to be widened, why can it not be widened along the eastern side of the road? This would be far less disruptive. Most of the land that would need to be acquired is currently occupied by u...

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

Cars waiting to turn right at ridiculously small intersections is the bane of my driving life. On major roads like Unley Road, many cars park in the left lane, while others block the right lane while waiting to make right turns at every little cross street, making it very hard for through traffic t...

OMG !.......flogging a dead horse......when will the economic reality of the Overland service sink in with some people.... It will eventually die........and the few remaining will passengers will use buses in South Australia, and in Victoria buses to the nearest V-Line train station. The reason the...

Emerson Crossing to Darlington (approx 4.3km) will likely be the most tricky part. Like Don Bradman to Richmond Road, it's lined with businesses and industry with more behind those with road frontage but it's a much longer stretch of road in addition to business further back from the road. Plus the...

Viterra and GWA should never have been allowed to discontinue rail freight. Viterra is a corporate entity. Both shareholders and farmers benefit from Viterra sourcing the lowest cost transport. The failing is in the policy area somewhere, and enforced (or not) through the outsourcing contract(s). T...

Does anyone know what the reasons are for the speed restrictions in the Adelaide Yard? Trains always seem to go extremely slow until they exit the yard.

Other than the no-brainer City Loop and North Adelaide extensions that should but won't happen, what are people's thoughts on extensions to Norwood Town Hall, Prospect Road and Unley Road (or maybe further to Mitcham Station and Civic Centre)? An extension from the Entertainment Centre to Hindmarsh...

Not sure if this has been posted before. From Maras Group website. Proposed 361-367 King William Street (corner of Sturt Street). 18 floors of offices over 4 levels of carparking.

[VIS] Re: A new inner-city stadium is one of a raft of big ticket projects on the government's agenda this year.

So after 16 years straight of Labor, when the state has been in terminal decline, it's the Libs holding them back for the last 2. Yep, can see that. Terminal decline ?
