Re: [VIS] New Concert Hall

...two sites that have been discussed, using Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor's Casa da Música hall in Porto, Portugal as an example of size. Featuring a 1300-seat auditorium suffused with daylight, Casa da Música is a modern polygon-shaped building 9 floors high. Built in 2006 to house the Porto Nationa...

Re: [VIS] New Concert Hall

Aesthetically, a third geometric shell for the AFC would fit right in on the riverfront (but could be clad in glass/copper/zinc or something other than white tin). It could also serve as a new entrance and face to King William Road (and adjacent tram stop). Hope the powers that be have it under con...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses

It looks better than before, but there's no pattern to the numbers. If they're doing a re-numbering, why not give the routes a pattern? For example, east-west buses are even numbered, north-south are odd numbered. Not a bad idea. Would make wayfinding much easier if you're trying to navigate the ne...

Re: [VIS] New Concert Hall

As for location, proximity to Adelaide Festival Centre or Her Maj are crucial IMO, with my preference being for the former . I'm curious, why is that proximity to either of them essential? Sent from my LG-H870DS using Tapatalk Simply, critical mass. As the organisations themselves argue, colocation...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses

You are entitled to your opinion Eurostar, but as you have read these or similar changes to Routes and services are going to happen! There are many routes that are just not viable, and we haven't had a major revamp for our Bus Networks in close to 30 years. These changes are necessary to put buses ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses

Looks like all the Outer Northern bus routes may be reorganised once the electrification of the Gawler Line is complete. No more city buses from so far out....they will all be feeder buses to the train system. They just need to talk to the people who run Perth public transport and COPY what they do...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

So connecting Buses to Trains makes sense. I assume.buses to the obahn too? The map suggests the O-Bahn is part of Outer North East, so will continue with Torrens Transit. One of the joint venture partners for the north-south package that includes the trams is currently also the operator of Canberr...

[U/C] Re: SkyCity Adelaide Casino Expansion | 55m | 12 Levels | Hotel

Finally Adelaide gets a highly reflective glass facade, and interesting un-boxlike shape, but it is on a squat 12 storey structure. How about cladding the awful 80's intercontinental in this shiny glass, and we might be on to something. The shape is ok enough but that awful faux sandstone on concre...

Re: News & Discussion: Roads & Traffic

Because my origin is the top of Magill Rd and destination is Queen St Norwood near the western side of the Magill Rd and Portrush Rd intersection. If it’s really backed up I’ll drive down Beulah Rd, but overall it doesn’t save much time because I have to get back to the Queen St / Magill Rd interse...

Re: Glen Osmond and Fullarton Road intersection upgrade

Construction cost could be minimised by completely closing the intersection for a few weeks/months of round-the-clock work. Did you work for DPTI's rail division?? LOL. No, but I used to commute along Portrush Road back when it was only one lane each way between Kensington and Magill Roads. My solu...

Re: News & Discussion: Roads & Traffic

Have you ever driven on this section of road at peak hour? I do it every weekday. If it's so bad, why do you always take that route? Because my origin is the top of Magill Rd and destination is Queen St Norwood near the western side of the Magill Rd and Portrush Rd intersection. If it’s really back...

Re: News & Discussion: Roads & Traffic

Why is this even needed? This is just overkill. That money could have been so much better spent on more useful and worthy 'congestion busting' initiatives. Have you ever driven on this section of road at peak hour? I do it every weekday. If you have, you would understand why it’s required. Apparent...

Re: News & Discussion: Laneway & Streetscape Projects

https://indaily.com.au/news/local/2020/02/24/city-laneway-facelift-hits-roadblock/ Are we the slowest laneway developers in the world, on top of the slowest carpark/plaza builders? I hate to say this but I think Bank Street and Leigh Street should be fully reopened to cars, we should be focusing th...

Reasonable sized townhouse development at 245-259 Gilbert St: https://www.saplanningportal.sa.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0007/638539/020-A069-19.pdf Saw this. I personally think it’s underwhelming for the cbd. I know it’s predominantly residential area but surely we can do better than townhouses...
