[VIS] Re: New Womens and Childrens Hospital
Also, imagine failing so hard at the planning of this project that a rail station isn't even considered as part of it. Agreed. Both a tram stop near the main entrance and a railway station to the immediate north of the Port Road bridge would ensure that the entirety of ‘BioMed City’ is easily acces...

MicBara … really impressed that you guys are trying to do something a little different with this tower rather than the standard “cram as much floor space in for least cost” development model that we usually see in Adelaide. You guys deserve every success with this proposal.

Evening everyone. Yep word is out - Westin Adelaide is in. The indaily had some old renders in there. You guys can have the work lodged for DA. MicBara … what are the contingency plans and Plan B if AMOSAH doesn’t receive government funding? You have to admit it’s a pretty big “if”. Will it be addi...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Yes to North Adelaide (a "destination" in it's own right, cafes, pubs, beautiful old homes, future apartments etc) No to Prospect Rd (just a really ordinary suburban area, a bus is more than sufficient for public transport needs along Prospect Rd) Prospect Rd is a high street approaching ...

Like the BHP building next to it, very ordinary design saved by really nice glazing.
I saw it in person last week, thought it was pretty decent and OK.

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
I really think a loop which goes down Grote/Wakefield is the most logical solution. Firstly, it’s wide enough. Secondly, it provides connection to key destinations in the CBD - Central Market, Chinatown and Gouger St. It’s also useful for connecting to secondary locations such as Calvary Hospital an...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn
Once OBahn reaches its end of life it should be converted to heavy rail. Hard disagree. Would reduce convenience, increase travel times, destroy a nice green corridor, and also almost certainly cost much more than even completely rebuilding the whole O-Bahn track and building more buses locally for...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Adelaide Metro is designed to transport people in the morning peak from 8 am to 9 am and the afternoon peak from 5 pm to 6 pm. This means Adelaide Metro hires drivers for two shifts and they have excess capacity in the middle of the day. If we want to introduce free fares, the first place to introd...

As I’ve said previously, if a western tram loop connecting RAH with Victoria Square (only 2-2.5km long) came to fruition, this part of town would go absolutely nuts with apartment and hotel towers.

Great news! This tower and Central Market will transform this part of the city. I think the first of many new towers in this area over the next decade.

[SWP] Re: Central Market Arcade Redevelopment | 130m | 39 levels
If there is ever going to be an underground train station in the Victoria Square precinct, it’ll be located directly under Victoria Square. Why? Because they can then dig a cut and cover hole for the station and platforms, rather than creating a bored tunnel station which are horrendously expensive ...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Why can’t they just have a two-track tram with the tram lane also a normal traffic lane on the North Adelaide section of the route? Like what they used to have on King William St South? Like Jetty Rd Glenelg now? That way, no loss of traffic lanes or parking. No one loses anything. I know the tram w...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Wild idea, but what would people think of a compromise where we can have dual tram lanes on O'Connell Street, that yes, would reduce it to one lane in each direction for traffic - but if LeFevre Terrace was duplicated and Main North Road redirected into LeFevre Terrace and then the road realigned t...
