[COM] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

Gotta admit, that Lille stadium is ingenious! That would be the model. Still not gonna happen coz of the practicalities and overlap across three sporting codes and events. Again, the mostly unused, big enough, and perfectly sited position on the riverbank and next to public transport between the rai...

[COM] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

This all-in-one idea of stadia + indoor arena combo is ridiculous for all the reasons pointed out in previous posts. There's also the not so small issue that the major tenants being considered - soccer, basketball, tennis, are all summer. No way it can work and each of the three codes will reject it...

Here's my go.... https://drive.google.com/open?id=1UVCblJ7X5vsi7c4-GDK365vsRjI7jWiO&usp=sharing Two tunnels of about 1.5km, following Brownhill Creek in between, popping out just under the train line and following the already wide Daws Rd corridor to NS Motorway. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor

Someone here once suggested a tunnel from the freeway bend to Brownhill creek then another under Clapham to pop out near top of Daws Rd and then down to South Rd. I first scoffed at the thought but its starting to grow on me. Expensive with the tunnels but far less land acquisition in much cheaper a...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

re: pickup/drop off zone Apologies if this was discussed earlier in the thread, but something has to be done about the pick up/drop off road. Any plans for this? Going back in time, obviously the original plan was the implemented separate levels of departures and arrivals. When they decided to move...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor

Also, what's up with the six lanes of north bound surface south rd in that pic? Not including the freeway lanes. Surely overkill! I count 3 northbound lanes: one at the far western side, and two more heading north from the Shepherds Hill Road junction. Where are the other three? Sorry I meant south...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor

There was plenty of room for a south bound Ayliffes bridge landing where the surface Ayliffes merges with the sunken freeway. As others have said they already have the north bound Ayliffes exit so the extra cost would have been minimal. There are plenty of non-frieght features being incorporated in ...

[COM] [VIS] Re: [VIS] Memorial Drive upgrade

There's no way I can see SACA Members/Adelaide Oval giving up Adelaide Oval No.2 let alone North Adelaide residents and the Parklands lobby group agreeing to it. They'd be an uproar. You only have to see how popular the Village Green's become during the Test Matches on the back oval. It's apart of ...

[COM] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

Yep, Oval 2 is the spot for a future rectangular stadium. Uni playing grounds or #1 Port rd in the parklands can continue to be developed as the next best alternative for cricket. Meanwhile, do Memorial Drive properly as an all-weather year round 10,000 venue for court sports and events. Would not s...

Yawn. Another WTC another redevelopment render. They're taking the piss if they think an uncovered 6000 capacity venue would even remotely interest basketball or netball. Not sure how else they get to 100 event days. 25 would be for afl game day support functions, maybe 30 for tennis, maybe 10 for c...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor

It would possibly be a more expensive solution, but one way to keep the corridor narrower would be to partially stack the continuous and local roads. That is what is achieved through the very high Superway north of Regency Road.I'm not sure what height and access constraints led to that elevated roa...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor

I came up with an alternative to the R4 and R5 sections. Most of the route follows James Congdon Drive from South Road, through to Port Road Thebarton, across diagonally to Cawthorne Tce up to the River Torrens, and again diagonally across with Adam Street to the existing start of the current Torre...
