[U/C] Re: Flinders Rail Link

The Liberals proposed a southern O-Bahn at the 1997 election. It didn't go ahead because the cost estimate blew out from $70 million to $184 million. In today's dollars, it'd be much more, even discounting the number of underpasses/overpasses originally envisaged given the surrounding infrastructur...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

A few more whispers (again I don't know a heap of details and things are obviously still in the planning phase so could be subject to change): - HBR will probably just be a grade separation. Probably won't connect directly to the NSM. Only a small area adjacent HBR is in the scope. - Seemingly there...

[U/C] Re: Flinders Rail Link

When an Adelaide A400 train rolls into the Flinders station (with 3 carriages) it has the potential to move 540 passengers......that's 10 buses worth. No wonder the concept of the O-Bahn has not really taken off around the world......capacity issues that light and heavy rail do far better. But some...

[COM] Re: Renaissance Arcade | 132m | 40 Levels | Realm Apartments

Not sure what is happening with this building. The arcade stuff does not seem to be moving, not much has happened there in the last 3 or so weeks. Also looking through the front doors and the uphostery seems to be missing from the rear of the chairs in the Foyer and have been for the last 3 or 4 we...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

Without going into too much detail, tenders have recently gone out for early works on the section of South Road from T2T to Darlington. I'm unsure if these were listed publicly, or whether companies have been invited to tender for the project. I've only heard whispers myself so my knowledge of the d...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

Claybro you perpetuate this notion "24/7 power" as though there is some sort of issue providing power 24 hours a day in this country.....there is not. Why do we need heaps and heaps of power at 3am? We don't because (obviously) there is little demand at 3am because for what I know of the electricit...

[PRO] Re: Hove Level Crossing Removal | $171m

Any grade separation of the road would probably result in something similar to the Goodwood Road underpass. Brighton road goes under/over the train, with at grade roads running parallel allowing access to the suburban side streets. I'd also imagine that a few of the side streets would lose their dir...

[PRO] Re: Hove Level Crossing Removal | $171m

I've heard from a pretty good source that this will be built as a rail underpass similar to the Oaklands Crossing.

This hasn't been locked in 100% but is almost certain.

Surveyors were on site today
They've been on site for the last few weeks undertaking service investigations with a vac truck. Work outside the rail corridor is nearing completion. Night works will start in the next few weeks to investigate services within the rail corridor.

[U/C] Re: Her Majesty’s Theatre Expansion

Abstract thought, but has the expansion of the theatre all but ensured that it will one day be demolished? Prior to the renovation, the theatre was very run down but was also in a largely original state. As much of the theatre was demolished, it is now essentially a modern building, with a heritage ...

[PRO] Re: Brighton Road Grade Separation

Preliminary works for this are well underway. Service locating, potholing and surveying have been underway for the past week or so. The scope seems to extend from Warradale station to Jetty Rd Brighton (and potentially further south) What's the likelihood of Jetty Rd being included in the grade sepa...
