[COM] Re: Armada Arndale (Redevelopment) | $200m

Woolworths has plans to install a supermarket drive-through at Arndale, meaning you could order online and never leave your car. Is this peak laziness or convenience for the modern world ? https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/messenger/west-beaches/woolworths-lodges-plans-for-a-supermarket-drivethrough-a...

[VIS] Re: New inner-city stadium

I feel I should restate my point, I'm not against concerts being held at Hindmarsh, I think it's a kick-arse mid-tier stadium venue for those kinds of shows. My argument is that the AVMC don't give enough of a shit to properly plan for a turnaround between concert to soccer match. For instance, if ...

[VIS] Re: New inner-city stadium

The venue doesnt really pick tour periods. They might negotiate on actual an date, but that's within a specific period that a band is touring the country. They arent going to change the tour or come back later over the a league. Further to that there's only been 3 concerts at Coopers since AVMC too...

[VIS] Re: New inner-city stadium

I'm not buying into this debate yet because it's a rehash of previous arguments. But a couple people have said the the Adelaide Entertainment Centre is privately owned. It's not. It's run by a public corporation -- the Adelaide Venue Management Corporation, which also runs the Convention Centre and...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses

Going off topic for a moment, attached is a picture of Sydney's new inter city "D" type electric trains now undergoing testing. Colour scheme includes very dark orange doors and front, black borders and mainly silver sides.. Which keeps with the orange theme that Sydney's trains are going for. I kn...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses

I'd rather follow the lead of either Melbourne, and have a common livery, but different colour scheme for each mode (blue for Metro, purple for V/Line, green for trams, orange for bus), or Sydney and have a different colour scheme for each mode (blue for Metro, orange for trains, blue for buses, red...

[VIS] Re: New inner-city stadium

Both ideas are flawed. The Memorial Drive option is too small. I think 12,000-15,000 needs to be the size of any new indoor arena, otherwise we may as well just keep the AEC. Also, it sounds like Memorial Drive is going to rely heavily on Adelaide Oval facilities and staff. This will result in job l...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses

So after 20 years of our buses looking like the old Tri-skills buses, they now look like a hot mess.

Also I wonder how long will the USB ports last. I note the ones on the Sydney Metro have already stopped working.

[VIS] Re: A new inner-city stadium is one of a raft of big ticket projects on the government's agenda this year.

It's a pity we're debating the need of yet another sport stadium without considering how our state's arts infrastructure is being left behind. In addition to the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, the State Theatre Company is now saying that the Festival Centre is no longer fit for purpose . As Sydney Op...

[VIS] Re: A new inner-city stadium is one of a raft of big ticket projects on the government's agenda this year.

Small anecdote, my son is getting to the age where he's interested in going to see a few sports games, A-League included. Hindmarsh is walking distance away so thought, sure, I'll find a game that we can go see. Except, every single home game this season is a night game. Not one game played on a we...

Fasta Pasta likely works anywhere.
Where does Cafe Brunelli rank for everyone? Is it above or below Fasta Pasta?
Probably on par now that they're just opened in Salisbury

[VIS] Re: State Politics A new inner-city stadium is one of a raft of big ticket projects on the government's agenda this year

Agree a combined basketball, tennis, netball, music arena needs to be first. It should be roughly over current Memorial Drive / Next Generator precinct. They should sell of entertainment centre, netball stadium, titanium arena and such. Would go someway of the way to paying for the facilities. Afte...

[VIS] Re: State Politics A new inner-city stadium is one of a raft of big ticket projects on the government's agenda this year

While I would love a new rectangular city stadium to watch Adelaide United at, the Aleague seems in a near terminal decline atm. I think a joint use basketball/tennis/netball/music arena should come first. This. Crowds are well down across the A-League, and United is no exception. They only managed...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses

There are no more buses from the 80s... They should not be on the road more than 25 years, making the oldest bus from 1995. All buses are now air-conditioned and 98% are wheelchair accessible. Correct. The last of the SL202's are the last of the non-accessible buses. They'll be retired by the end o...
