Re: News & Discussion: Trams
What is with the total deteriorated landscaping at the Festival Centre tram stop. Have the ACC washed their hands of it? It's an absolute disgrace. This is the one of Adelaide's icon destination points and the area surrounding the Tram stop looks like something one would see in a third world country...

:applause: Will be a fantastic day when the wrecking ball meets the current POS building. Absolutely. The location is at the very core of the commercial district and the current hideosity is an embarrassment. As is the building across the road (National Mutual) not to mention the row of dischevilled...

[COM] Re: Northern Connector | 14km | $1b
With bits of MATS basically built in some form or another, most of the rest should be built in some form or another as well. A second motorway/freeway running north/north east should be built, as the northern suburbs will be where most of our new population growth will happen and it's too wide of a...

So there is a change.org petition going around about "saving the Thebarton Theatre". People already have their panties in a bunch about a demolition that will never happen. Does not bode well for anything other than a completely buried tunnel through here, regardless of how well a trench ...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel
It may have already been posted on here, however if not the health of the fig trees at the northern end is not good. In fact they may well be dying. So the whole saga of preserving some fig trees at some point in the not too distant future could well be a dead issue (no pun intended) Before anyone a...

Excuse my ignorance here, but can someone explain why the height clearance between the crane boom and the core is so great, surely there can only be another 1 or 2 core rises left?

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor
Anyone know the barrier type/size they will use to separate the North and South bound traffic? I know it will comply but it kinda looks tight for the 6 lanes [dual 3 lanes] added with a dividing barrier. One half of the T2T lowered motorway will consist of two 3.5m outside lanes and one 3.2m inside...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor
My guess - I reckon the trench will continue with surface-level roads each side pretty much until Henley Beach Road where a short cut and cover tunnel will allow the surface roads to run directly above the motorway - meaning that the Thebby, Council Chambers and school can remain untouched. That'll...

[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million
Does the forum think (as I do) that the Govt will be the major tenant to lease the new office tower? It would be ideal for the pollies to be directly adj. Parliament House in new digs. Added by the fact the former Govt tried to sell off all the ageing state admin buildings around Victoria Square. B...

[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million
The article falls short of specifying the building proper is under construction. They would not build this without tenant pre commitment which also has not been announced. I'd take this with a grain of salt. Also mentions building as 23 levels which is of course wrong. In the crane counter thread u...

Dashing Donnie D would turn in his grave if you named an expressway after him. He put the kibosh on the MATS plan remember. No, that was David Tonkin. Dunstan shelved it because at the time it was not wanted, needed, nor affordable. Tonkin killed it and sold off the land. Actually I think this has ...
