[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

I totally agree with you SBD. So what is your/the forums thoughts on the Fed. Govt spending $9.3billion on inland rail from Melb (via NSW) to Brisbane for freight? ie why the inland rail will work here vs road and what do you think are the differences to our situation?https://inlandrail.artc.com.au/...

Re: SA Economy

Sorry but the retail shops I was referring to are the typical 80-120 sqm mall shops which I think will just continue to struggle and/or close. Big billion dollar companies like Chemist Warehouse and ASX listed top 20 companies like Bunnings, JB-Hif Fi aren't exactly comparable.

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

Cutting to the chase what does the forum think the actual outcome will be at the end of this? Does the forum think the critics are more vocal and pro-active and will succeed or is the AFC and it's supporter base too strong/powerful and will get their way? To me it all kind of feels like deja-vu with...

[U/C] Re: Flinders Rail Link

So commuters coming from elsewhere by train would need to get off at Tonsley and then catch the light rail (and vice versa from the Uni)? How is that ideal? I know the train doesn’t go to Flinders Uni etc but I expect the current bus shuttle that does Flinders Uni, FMC, Sturt (and ideally a bus inte...

Re: SA Economy

I have heard they may be putting a child-care centre in Hallett Cove. I think the market will need to adapt as retail slows/shops become vacant. Ideally vacant retail shops may need to be replaced with other different income streams and/or sectors that on-line can't under-cut/compete with.

Re: News & Developments: Prospect

Yes the only thing is the size is about 5 times bigger than a normal Woolworth’s. So if they combined a bigW, Dan Murphy’s etc it could work. I am thinking a bit like their Brickworks or Cumberland Pk centre. However I think the design of the current building may have to be altered considerably. I a...

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

And this from the Fed Govt $100b infrastructure programme website - The Australian Government has committed up to $4.5 billion to critical projects on the North-South Corridor. Timetable The Torrens Road to River Torrens project began August 2015 and is complete. The Darlington and Northern Connecto...

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

I think the bottom line is money is the issue. The Govt make open ended promises of billions but with no defined start or end date. Funding could be 8-10 years away... this article after the Federal budget last year explains it - The Federal Government has again declined to fund the North-South Corr...

I think it’s more employment/jobs being the key to population growth (both coming in and reason for those leaving). Until there is significant change in employment and the types of jobs, I expect our limited population growth to continue.

[PRO] Re: 10 Anzac Highway | Kaufland Supermarket

Does anyone know if the neighbouring site ever had any interested buyers [which Kaufland owned and had for sale]. I believe this was for apartments/medium density residential and it would be a good indication of the residential/developer interest or lack thereof.

Re: News & Discussion: Roads & Traffic

I think that slip lane is being closed and both sides of that intersection is being widened for the Adelaide High school students. The problem was with say hundreds of students waiting to cross is there wasn’t enough room to stand & they were literally spilling out onto the street.
