Given the state of retail, one would assume the extension is off again. :wallbash:
You reactivated this thread for that?

Re: [VIS] New Concert Hall

Strongly disagree. Granted, the use of the parade ground as a carpark and sleepy RSL offices is not ideal. But, including the Government House grounds (which should be open to the public), this is the only remaining section of the parklands that connects from river to terrace. That's an incredible ...

Re: [VIS] New Concert Hall

A better location for a concert hall then the festival plaza area would be the torrens parade ground. Demolish it all, build the concert hall and properly landscape and pave the surrounding area. NO, hands off the Torrens Parade Ground, its an important site thats used on Anzac Day etc. Honestly, R...

Re: [VIS] New Concert Hall

Agreed. Think that area would be too crowded with a concert hall in there, but if that location had to be used I would have those concert hall and plaza locations swapped around. So let me get this straight, building a concert hall on the site of the plaza, right next-door to the existing performin...

Re: [VIS] New Concert Hall

I completely disagree. This will ruin the view of the Festival Theatre from King William St and close off all open space for the plaza. Dreadful location. Agreed. Think that area would be too crowded with a concert hall in there, but if that location had to be used I would have those concert hall a...

Re: [VIS] New Concert Hall

Aesthetically, a third geometric shell for the AFC would fit right in on the riverfront (but could be clad in glass/copper/zinc or something other than white tin). It could also serve as a new entrance and face to King William Road (and adjacent tram stop). Hope the powers that be have it under con...

Spot on. The banquet room of the AFC is the perfect location for a Concert Hall. A highly visible site with convenient access to restaurant/bars etc
Please tell me you're joking? The banquet room site wouldn't even be big enough for a small/medium size recital hall let alone a concert hall.

[U/C] Re: Her Majesty’s Theatre Expansion

Prior to the renovation, the theatre was very run down but was also in a largely original state. As much of the theatre was demolished, it is now essentially a modern building, with a heritage facade. Fast forward 50-100 years from now when what is currently a newly renovated building becomes run d...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

If it does happen, it won't take long to realise that there is zero viability in charging people $30 return for a bus to and fro the city when for a little bit extra you can catch an Uber or taxi to the front door of your hotel or house.

That awning is awful... How hard would have it been to go back to the original stone awning that was there when it was the Tivoli theatre?

Also, have they don't any paint work to the front?

[PRO] Re: 10 Anzac Highway | Kaufland Supermarket

It's a shame that Renewal SA didn't snap up the site. If it had been turned into a Bowden-style development keeping part of the saw-tooth factory It would've been a nice feature to keep some of the brick facade along Maple Avenue as part of the new construction or even part of the old saw-tooth fac...

Event group have put a hold to all developments.
I dare say this will be the first of a few for Adelaide. It's a shame, though, I see this section of Currie Street really in need of some rejuvenation through these kinds of developments.

I'm sorry, but how on earth did the MCG make it to the top of that list? The venue is awful, both in terms of facilities and atmosphere. And not to mention the pitch is terrible. What moron at Foxtel came up with that?

As Ben wrote, there is now crown plaza signage at the roof top level, view from west side .Please click on picture for bigger.
Didn't realise they were getting rooftop naming as well, thought it was just the podium?
