Re: Move Government House to former LeCornu NrthAdel site
Is there any reason why Government House can't be lifted, in one piece, off its current site on North Terrace, big rigged up the road a bit, and placed in North Adelaide on the old Le Cornu site? The Governor might feel more at home there amongst the hob knobs, instead of exposed to anti-monarch sn...

Whispering wall
We visited the whispering wall a while back and noticed the steady flow of visitors. Unfortunately there are virtually no amenities and an old building which could make a good cafe sits derelict. It appears to me that a make over would regenerate an old favourite for day trippers to a must stop for ...

Re: SA builds world's most expensive hospital
Apart from poor project management, the NRAH project is causing other problems. As a unionised site, wages there are so high it is difficult to find some trades at present. Recently, I was looking for a team of cabinetmakers to build some commercial cabinetry. It was hard going. I heard numerous st...

Official CBD Crane Counter Thread - 9
I actually think Adelaide is doing OK, obviously not in the Melbourne or Dubai league but I can remember a decade without any cranes or very little. Surprising to note besides Tasmainia, Qld, and Victoria all had higher unemployment than Adelaide last month. And although we always run ourselves down...

Re: Official CBD Crane Counter Thread - 9
I was fairly upbeat about Adelaide's cranes till reading the following on the Urban Melbourne site "MARK BALJAK WROTE ON FRI, 17/10/2014 - 06:18 still a poxy count, current Melbourne crane count is 117 - all time high. >>> Cranes flocking over mainland city skylines The inner-city apartment boo...

News & Discussion: Heritage Buildings
Ml69, Have to agree I think I and others have suggested it on this forum several times.
But perhaps not grand enough for some.

Re: News & Discussion: Heritage Buildings
Just reading about the Anglican Church selling the mansion Bishops court at North Adelaide. Just a suggestion but what a great new home for our governor, freeing up Government House on North Tce. $7m would be well spent to free up such a huge valuable asset to the public on North Tce and linking Nor...

[COM] U/C: New Royal Adelaide Hospital | $2.1b
The fault looks like its between the police barracks and the old Adelaide gaol to me. But I guess both survived the 1954 earthquake. Hopefully the hospital is a little more technologically advanced than the other two.

[COM] U/R: Colonial Mutual Building > Mayfair Hotel
The Advertiser is as usual, playing it's deliberately divisive role of creating controversy out of nothing. As if moving a bus stop is even worthy of reporting on. I stopped buying it, then stopped reading it on line and now don't even read it in coffee shops. (It's not worth reading even if free wi...

[COM] Re: #Vis: Festival Plaza Redevelopment $800m
Would be a shame to block the rear of Parliament House, as it's a well built stately building.
I would love to see that ugly concrete driveway between the casino (rail station) and old Parliament House removed and turned into a pedestrian plaza.

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn
The Advertiser doesn't waste any time in teaming up with the opposition to criticise the latest bit of infrastructure, lite on mentioning that the new proposal is more expensive because it is longer and two way instead of one way. And then they give Vicki Chapman air to rubbish the state governments...

Re: The SA Politics Thread
hey Dog are we going to get a some pretty pictures of all the broken promises of State Labor? I know you are hot on these things. Waewick I think you may recall before the Federal election I posted numerous bits on how the election of an Abbott government was going to be a disaster for SA. Well it'...
