[COM] Re: Birkenhead Bridge Upgrade Project

A better idea, instead of a new bridge, is to run a new route from the bridge, split left and right of the old church, down church street, go all the way down to the train line knock down coles and continue towards commercial rd, cut across it and past the aviation museum and link up to perkins dri...

[COM] Re: Birkenhead Bridge Upgrade Project

Building a bridge at the end of Commercial Rd won’t happen. It would involve the removal of the Port Lighthouse and the Birkenhead Hotel, and totally wreck the amenity of that Part of Commercial Rd where all the tourist facilities, galleries, pubs and restaurants with pedestrian activity and sidewal...

[COM] Re: Birkenhead Bridge Upgrade Project

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't part of the traffic planning for Port Adelaide to try and reduce heavy vehicles moving through the town center down Commercial Road? Moving the bridge in this way would actively encourage through-traffic. Having a greater thoroughfare would bring more people to th...

[COM] Re: Birkenhead Bridge Upgrade Project

An upgraded bridge should prioritise pedestrian and cycling connections - make it even less desirable for vehicle use. See this attitude is why so many people can't stand cyclists. Why can't an upgrade incorporate a better outcome for both? But your first question should be is there room to accommo...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

If the government were serious (and there’s no evidence that they are) about the revitalisation of the Port they’d do a business case on finishing the spur line, and installing light rail from Dock 2 to Semaphore Jetty, running down St Vincent St past the Port Dock station and across the Jervois bri...

https://indaily.com.au/news/local/2020/ ... roadblock/

Are we the slowest laneway developers in the world, on top of the slowest carpark/plaza builders?

Just thought i'd reactivate this thread: 1. To illustrate the folly of our state govt 2. To clarify if this is cancelled once and for all, or I am sure I read somewhere that the Libs Govt was conducting a further study on the viability? Knoll claimed that it's on hold until an overall public transp...

Great picture there Brando. This building looks both stately and organic at the same time. That’s not easy to achieve. A standout jewel in Adelaide’s crown.

Re: News & Discussion: Tram

We don’t need light rail all the way down Port Rd, as there’s already a heavy line close by and parallel. Very expensive exercise too, now that it’s all been re-landscaped. It would be worth a business case though on converting the Outer Harbour heavy rail line to light, and feeding off that to the ...

A lot of people here like the mirrored glass. In the last pic taken by I Follow PAFC , you can see the reflection onto the InterContinental. When the sun is not overhead (now in summer) it should cast reflections onto the plaza. We'll have to wait and see how annoying this will turn out to be. Chee...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Why not a light rail from Woodville station using the current rail route to Grange then turning right up Military Road to West Lakes Bvd, then a loop going past the Westlakes shopping centre and new housing developments and rejoining the current rail route at Albert Park.(or vice versa). Would cover...

It actually looks quite striking. I also believe the void floors will also have some feature lighting too.
That would make a huge difference and a bit of a standout at night.

Very impressed by the design elements and attention to detail on the Austin Street facade, including the treatment of the old Assay House. Given that Austin Street is a very narrow service lane they could have paid minimal attention to the look and feel, and focus the glamour entirely on the arcade ...
