[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

I must say, being down in ADL this past weekend, I'v very dissapointed by the landscaping of this. Looks so tacky, half arsed and very much up to par wit hthe 'Adelaide' standard. Dissapointing. Was thinking this yesterday when passing through. Why plant a bank of deciduous trees in front of a dull...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

Make no mistake about it Adelaide Oval is a magnificent venue. Comparisons with Perth or Mars or Timbuktu are pointless. What give Adelaide the edge, besides its setting and great spectator experience is its uniqueness. And innovation and uniqueness is what a provincial city needs if it wants to be ...

Some work being done today on the art installations on the corner of South Rd/Torrens Rd. Added more crooked poles and some screening. Hard to imagine the desired final effect at this point but may look good at night if the lighting is done well.

a fascinating view. What is the large complex on elder park, about where the current festival theatre is ?
That was the Schools Patriotic Fund Hostel which later became the Elder Park Migrant Hostel.

Great picture there Ben. Was it taken from Kodo? Lot of different textures surrounding the GPO. Done right the future development of the GPO site should bring it all together.

The reflective finish will also add more dimension to the precinct too with a bit of luck (or intentional design).

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

The interstate-based developer doesn't give two sh*ts about the Port or SA, they just want to make a profit and without a strong guiding hand by a public-interest authority sh*t is all we will get. Thankfully the woolsheds are still banked for when we get are act together and develop a proper maste...

[U/C] Re: [PRO] Re: [PRO] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

Does anyone work in the Port area? I was talking to some business owners who said they knew this had be cancelled last year? Apparently issues with hooking up bus services and the desire of the council to have the bus services integrated was causing issues (not in a bad way just in getting it to wo...

SCG is similar, because Fox Studios (formerly the showground) blocks entry/exit from the whole south and eastern flank. In our case there are only tennis courts and a golf course on the Western flank, and most people on exit are heading south over the bridge or east towards KW St. Agree it’s very fr...

Interesting that LeFevre Peninsula and light rail and merit all appear in the same sentence. Is there a glimmer of hope there?

The SACA board are really on board, spruiking the development and its ‘stunning’ (their words) plans to its members. Stunning as the plans may be the clunky design shown in the renders is just so disappointing looking more like a mediocre block of flats tacked on as an afterthought than an architect...

[U/C] Re: [PRO] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

On the thoughts of a tram running just Port Adelaide to Semaphore, rather than connected to the rest of the network: I've for a while advocated for a much more significant Port Dock station that incorporates a new northern entrance (and upgrade) of the National Railway Museum over the area that is ...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Been sitting on this thought experiment for a long while now, the Glanville carpark closure and Port Dock delay has pushed me forward. Thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated. Regardless of whether the Port Dock spur goes ahead or not, I think an interesting way to help revitalise local busin...
