Re: News & Discussion : New Restaurants, Bars & Night Clubs

I always presumed the plan was to paint the concrete white as the renders seemed to suggest.

Maybe the funds ran out?

Re: News & Discussion : New Restaurants, Bars & Night Clubs

Oh dear. HQ Complex nightclub on Hindley St closes down Once one of the city’s most popular nightclubs, HQ Complex will close down for good. Adelaide’s premier nightclub of 15 years will shut its doors for good after running into financial difficulties. HQ Complex today announced it was unlikely to ...

Haven't been past in a while but has the landscaping at the Botanic gardens and festival theatre stops finally been done ?

Re: News & Discussion: Other Metropolitan Developments

Yeah the site really is a wasted opportunity - literally bang on top of a station and yet has been derelict for decades. It's a shame about the OI warehouse (and the neighbouring factory - which I suspect will be around for a good while yet) but really glad it looks like something will finally happe...

The draft Mixed Use Development Plan Amendment for the former Biancos site next to Kilkenny Railway Station has now been approved for consultation by the Minister: https://www.charlessturt.sa.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0026/160388/Item-3.57-Draft-Kilkenny-Mixed-Use-DPA-Privately-Funded-Appendix-A...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Why are single rail cars "bad"? As I said above: I feel that the single cars come at the expense of making the service look like a second-rate afterthought. It projects a fairly low-rent image of the services on these lines and I doubt does anything improve the attraction of public transport to pot...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

I wouldn't be surprised if we see single diesel railcars at night on lines like Grange and two set max during interpeak on lines like Outer Harbor and Belair Since the Libs came to power the Grange line has been routinely running single cars off-peak, as has the Outer Harbor line on occasion (unles...

Re: News & Discussion: Laneway & Streetscape Projects

As much as I'd love to see the site re-purposed, ACC have just spent a considerable amount of money resurfacing the UPark. If they were considering selling it within the next 10 years I doubt that would have happened. Plus it looks like they're planning to clad or light the facade based on the large...

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

I live just off south road at Mile End and an elevated roadway is my worst nightmare. I’d obviously prefer to see a tunnel, but even a trench would be preferable to an elevated eyesore through inner Adelaide. South Road is only two lanes through that section. Any option other than tunnels will requ...

Re: Adelaide Oval news and events

Recent opinion piece - but relevant nonetheless: Faultless Adelaide Oval is simply a class above opposing grounds, writes Robert Craddock The trouble with getting interstate fans to concede the Adelaide Oval is Australia’s best cricket ground is that Test venues are a bit like beers. Remember those ...

I think that brown layer behind the slats is still panelling - you can kind of see it in the picture I posted above, although it's not clear. Either way, to get panelling attached that close to the building means that a lot of the stone embellishments would need to have been removed from the facade....

[PRO] Re: 80 Currie Street | 137m | 34 levels | Office

Apparently Sandy Wilkinson thinks it is and is largely intact - both inside and out. However, looking at the old photo above, the ledges (not sure of the architectural term) protruded considerably beyond the red brick wall of the building behind, whereas the panelling is flush with this - so these a...

Re: News & Discussion: Roads & Traffic

When both vehicles are travelling in basically the same direction (as they would conceivably be in this case), the vehicle in front has the right of way. It's basically the merge rule. That depends on the situation as to whether a single lane is merging or whether a separate lane is merging into an...
