[COM] Re: Northern Connector | 14km | $1b
Is that the current design? It shows the railway in the diagram, and has the south-to-west ramp different than other drawings I have seen that have it entering Salisbury Highway east of the current bridge. Has anyone seen or heard "the plan" for how the bikeway/shared paths will cross Port...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport
In Brisbane, when a tourist is finished with their card, they can sell it back at some ticket outlets, and recover both the full cost of the card itself, and any remaining credit on it. I can't remember if single trips were also available, as we bought cards for the week we were there, and traded th...

Re: Adelaide Hills Freight Bypass
It is possible that the economic assessment in 2017/2018 could reach different conclusions than in 2010. Port Adelaide already has (or will soon) 4-lane road access via Port River Expressway, Northern Connector, Northern Expressway and Sturt Highway as far as Nuriootpa A bypass of Truro could be req...

In the original plans, both creeks that the tunnel crosses were going to be diverted under the cut and cover through siphons. The November newsletter says that they will be completing the culvert above the tunnel in the next few months. http://www.infrastructure.sa.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/000...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport
Because of the Salisbury Highway bridge. Isn't that 300m away? A park Tce bridge raised up by say 2m and the train line went down by 2m, relocate the station to the carpark to the south of park tce/under road. What kind of climb can a freight train do over 300m of track? Do you get "interestin...

There are also fuel efficiencies gained from having the station on top of the hill rather than bottom of the valley. Since that relates to physics, I imagine it remains true if the line is ever electrified.[Shuz] wrote:Because of the Salisbury Highway bridge.

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport
too bad they delayed building the freight line with the Northern Connector, it would have made rebuilding the gawler line crossings much more straight forward Maybe there is a "cunning plan" to get a bigger donation from the Federal Government for the alternate route as part of a funding ...

I think we've gone off topic for a bit... Yeah, sorry about that - thought I had posted to the North-south corridor thread. Back to Oaklands topic - has the bottleneck traffic at Oaklands become worse while Darlington has big roadwork delays? Traffic pressure at Oaklands might be eased when Darling...

How long until we start hearing calls to duplicate the Swanport Bridge? There have been a few prangs on it in the last few years, and it's the only bit of single carriageway and one-lane-each-way between the new race track and Glen Osmond.

What gap? Why do ppl keep thinking there is a 'gap'. There is no gap, there is South Road. Just because a road has 2 sets of traffic lights, doesn't mean traffic will suddenly explode going through this section. It is a gap in the non-stop North-South Motorway. As traffic lights cause a stop and ar...

I'm not yet persuaded on the benefit of a light rail conversion of the Outer Harbour line, and wonder if it's totally outside the realm of possibility to consider a standalone tram network servicing Semaphore, the Port and possibly Grange? Why must it connect through to the city? The transfer hurdl...

Those switchbacks going uphill, dodging pedestrians, is going to be so much fun on the bike. There are quite a few curved paths on and off of bridges in Brisbane and they seem to work fine. The picture makes it look pretty tight to get on and off of the incline, especially coming from under the bri...
