Re: News & Discussion: Roads & Traffic
Fine. On the one hand there is apparently extensive modelling and evidence from crashes to support the change. On the other hand there are those complaining that a drive through this section will take an extra 30 seconds under ideal conditions with this change. On the other other hand there are tho...

Re: M1 South-Eastern Freeway
at least my solution gives the truck driver an option to live Nort's solution has the potential to slow down a truck gradually enough to save the driver if "engineered" means they bend/resist a certain amount of force then yield to the next one so the truck doesn't stop in the length of t...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line
Port Adelaide on any given day is practically a ghost town and its not a PT pivot point either unlike the CBD. There's simply no comparison to be made. In my opinion Port Adelaide arguably represents one of the state's best opportunities in the near-term for both a commercial hub outside of the CBD...

Re: The Housing Crisis
I didn't I'm not sure you can blindly blame "the media" - even social media. I'm pretty sure it was "the media" who told me there were multiple candidates for preselection in the safe seat I live in. It was "the Party" (or the faceless men in the back room) who chose t...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
So they should kick a few dollars into this instead of relying on state government funding. ACC seems to be quite capable of asserting that the entire state benefits from infrastructure that any other council would fund for itself - community swimming pool for example. Do be fair, the number of peo...

Re: News & Discussion: Roads & Traffic
this seems unnecessary Some people regard all speed limits are unnecessary. It's clear that the people who understand these things have decided there is sufficient reason to change it. They say it will improve safety and reduce crashes, based on modelling and reviews. I guess time will tell if the ...

Re: News & Discussion: Other Metropolitan Developments
I live in a street right on the edge of the suburbs, in an estate that this release was opened for sale about 14 years ago. This release was marketed as being dotted with mature trees. I think the developers had removed as much as they could before it went on sale. I'd say about half of the remainin...

majority are, not all we have proof of that from 2019-2021 era I didn't say there was no point I said it was not realistic to expect the majority will make better choices as you put it due to the control the media have over the narrative abc. Seriously. You can't just call everyone stupid all the t...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
As part of the ACCs new city plan they are advocating for a city loop as part of their strategy 6. https://meetings.cityofadelaide.com.au/mgChooseDocPack.aspx?ID=938 So they should kick a few dollars into this instead of relying on state government funding. Re: M1 South-Eastern Freeway
Most public discourse of the "problem" seeks to introduce engineered "solutions" that rely on a panicked driver (who has likely already made at least one mistake) suddenly choosing to do something that is dangerous to themselves in the hopes of not injuring some hypothetical othe...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
That doesnt seem right. The Tram Grade Sep program alone is a $400m 50:50 state/feds contribution. not that i dont want even more rail investment, but the numbers dont seem to align. Grade separation programs aren't really an investment in public transport, though. They benefit road users more so t...

Re: M1 South-Eastern Freeway
Why not just install a concrete barrier in the median strip of Cross Rd? Sure, this wouldn't stop traffic heading west on Cross Rd from being hit by an out of control truck, but neither would moving the stop line for the intersection further east. There's probably not enough concrete in all of Sout...
