Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
I suppose the building doesn’t have to be approved… Keystone Tower isn’t approved yet. The 100m+ proposal on Franklin Street has a hotel component from memory. That could be a possibility too. Actually the 'Grote&Gouger' development (the former post sorting area) developed by Gurner has suppose...

A fun guessing game: From The Advertiser article on the Marriott GPO hotel: The world’s largest hotel chain has signed a deal to establish a third hotel in Adelaide as it prepares to open its flagship Marriott brand in the historic GPO building in August. Marriott International will also open a West...

What's the metal colour of the main front doors?
Currently they are fairly dominating, so having the ramps in the same colour might complement them.
Also, I loved the cafe in that basement under the front building (for the short time it was operating). Do you know what is planned for that space?

So yes, they will be getting rid of the ramp in favour of stairs and lift. Sadly, it doesn't look like they're doing anything to the weird grassy tiered area, so the new stairs will still lead down to an unresolved space. I don't mind that bit - I always presumed it was a nod to the old amphitheate...

So exciting! Looking forward to this. When MicBara says "managing traffic", would that mean moving the lane briefly onto the North Terrace tramlines? Navigating that would be difficult with how close the site is to the University stop. I remember Adelaidean took up a couple of lanes on Fr...

Re: University of South Australia | Developments & News
I work for UoA and I'm excited by the merger. I think the sheer scale of the new institution will open up a lot of new opportunities both around a complete overhaul of program offerings and also in research - the latter is often ignored from conversations around why the merger shouldn't happen. Due...

Why not build nothing? It costs nothing besides the annual costs of a weed whacker. Adelaide needs a new dirt car park since the le cornu site got developed. Makes sense to move South Australia's heritage closer to the heart of the city. Wait, isn't there a state law that says government needs to s...

And if you really want to attract more foreign tourists, spend the money on attracting more international students.... you get not only the spending by the student itself (which is substantially higher than what 99% of tourists spend), you also get friends and family coming for tourist visits... Un...

If you seriously think that some vaguely defined cultural centre will bring you planeloads of tourists without significant ongoing financial expenditures, you will be in for a very rude awakening. Yes, there are some German "cultural" tourists, who might show up, but that's a fairly small ...

Sure about that? Isn't the site of the bankrupt real estate guy next door to this?Smithy84 wrote:This site is being sold and will hit the market soon.
Hopefully snapped up by someone who will actually realise its potential.

Is this building sold out as yet? Nice to see another residential tower going up in this part of the city, the area has been a bit of a quiet achiever over the past 10 years with apartment projects. Their advertising material says 80%, so... Realestate.com.au lists a few options, mainly the expensi...

I assume these concrete blocks that appeared in front of the Myer Centre are bases for the scaffolding?
