Re: PRO: Oaklands Rail Underpass

I'm sure they do manage to wrap around the platform somehow. In haven't been to Berlin for a decade now so I'm not sure exactly how they managed to do it, but the gap is certainly an issue at curved stations like Belair. Another curved station, Edwardstown, has speed restrictions for express trains ...

Re: News & Discussion: Metropolitan Developments

I’ve heard Aldi wants to open a store in blackwood, has anyone have any info on that? Yes, one of the shopping centres on the northern part of Main Road will be demolished to make way for an Aldi and one or two local retailers. Plans were lodged a few months ago, but I'm not sure how soon works wil...

Track works at the Pulteney Street intersection will be happening this weekend, with the intersection at Gawler Place to be done the weekend after. https://www.dpti.sa.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0007/408067/City_Tram_Extension_-Intersection_works_Pulteney_St_and_Gawler_Place.pdf This should be th...

Re: PRO: Oaklands Rail Underpass

Because there is a curve where the underpass is, it would leave a significant gap between the train and the platform at the doors. The station platforms need to be straight.

Re: PRO: Oaklands Rail Underpass

It will probably be done in a similar way as the Torrens Junction project, but in a shorter period as the length of the trench that would need to be dug out will be smaller.

Re: PRO: Oaklands Rail Underpass

The first 3 renders show some sort of development while the 4th shows something like a car park. All previous media releases indicate there will be some medium density in the location where the rail tracks are now, and the rail underpass will be where the southern car park is now. That means there m...

Re: PRO: Oaklands Rail Overpass

Weatherill's just posted on his Facebook page that Public Transport Projects Alliance will build the underpass. Detailed design starts immediately, major construction to start mid-year Am I right in suggesting that there are less delays, costs and risks involved with building a rail underpass inste...

Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor

Could it be the case that the Port River Expressway is only an expressway by name? Usually they have signs indicating that the expressway is starting, including a sign that tells you what is and is not allowed on the expressway. I have seen them when you enter the Superway but not when you travel al...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

I don't want to sound too picky about aesthetics but I sure as hell hope that they resurface the roadways surrounding this project and they fix the guttering that has basically disappeared into the bitumen as a result of raising the road surface... I hope so as well, it looks very average at the mo...

Does the new station look to have much in the way of comfort for patrons?
Not yet, some seating has been installed but a lot of the shelters are not completed yet. I'd wait a bit to see what else they add.

[U/C] Re: Torrens Junction Underpass

Best suburban station on the metropolitan rail network now, I'd say? Close to it, but I'm still waiting on key features like arrival screens. The roofing used for the shelters also looks a bit cheap, but it could just be temporary. I think Adelaide and Adelaide Showgrounds are the top stations for ...
