Re: The Housing Crisis

It’s this exact over financialised approach that has us in this mess. I don’t think people realise that our fetishisation with residential property is very unique to Australia. Housing is shelter primarily, not an investment. Just consider the fact that our favourite investment as aussies is a high...

The other side of the economic equation is demand, and negative gearing greatly increases investor demand in this country. J...

Re: The Housing Crisis

Get rid of (grandfather) negative gearing, allow much more intensive development around key corridors, transport hubs and employment centres and you’ll fix half the problem.

Re: The SA Politics Thread

Spicy take: politicians in general are underpaid. Follow up point, the governor isn’t a real politician and that is a ridiculous amount of coin for a largely ceremonial role.

Re: The Housing Crisis

Supply and demand. Except due to the past 25 years of fucked up policies that have actively encouraged people to buy multiple properties, it means the demand has increased beyond population growth, even as we haven't been building enough new housing stock even to account for population growth. its ...

If you look at luxury brands in other cities they have always started and stayed in the CBD, and then potentially branched out to centres after. Would certainly be a change of direction for these brands if they were to enter into Adelaide via a shopping centre

Have to say the venue/set up looks pretty average on the TV coverage You sound like a true lefty. Sorry but we are always winging about something and how labor could do it better. Well they have been in power long enough and haven’t touched memorial drive. I don’t mean to sounds mean but I think th...

Re: Airbus Albo

The hypocrisy is killing me It amazes me that our Prime minister says that he cares about climate change and since being elected has done nothing but fly around the world in his own aeroplane !! And if he was in Europe on a work trip then why the hell was his girlfriend there as well ? Turn off Sky...

Re: SA State Election 2022

Some of the comments on here are hilarious. I highly doubt many politicians get into it for the money, there is a LOT more money to be made in the private sector, in finance, management, law etc. In none of these positions are you under the same scrutiny as a senior politician. The reality is these ...
