[COM] Re: #U/C: Freedom Apartments (Pirie) | 29m | 8lvls | Student

Thought this thread needed an update, so here are a couple of pics from today. Units are now occupied with just some minor works to go on the ground floor retail area. http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/4694/img0023no.jpg Uploaded with ImageShack.us http://img576.imageshack.us/img576/7376/img0024yo....

Re: 10-story housing development at Gilberton Ch 7 site

I'm thinking a bit outside the square here, but i wonder if there is any capacity to extend the popeye service (or new water taxi service) to a new station and riverbank development as part of this project. My recollection is that the river is sufficiently wide (not sure about depth though) right up...

Re: New Tallest? This is not a joke!

in the render there is a beige colour something. What sits there now is a grand old 6-7 level building. I will find a photo the one on the right if it works, s-a always cuts off a lot of the right side of the photo Ah right. It's odd that they've replaced it with... nothing. Maybe it's an oversight...

Re: Cycling around Adelaide

I ride this location most weekends. The location you are talking about is River Street, Hindmarsh. An off-road shared use path was constructed along 75% of the street last year but you have to merge back onto the road for the last 100m or so. You can see the new path quite clearly on nearmap. There ...

For anyone that is interested there are some more renders of this one on the architect's website (hames sharley) http://www.hamessharley.com.au/portfolio/42-franklin-street.html They also have some nice renders of the Nexus Centre near channel 7. Maybe someone with more patience than me can post the...

Re: Clipsal Site up for sale

Found a great powerpoint show that gives an indication what this area will look like on completion. I must say it looks pretty damn good. How much of it eventuates is another matter. You can download the slideshow from the lmc website here: http://www.lmc.sa.gov.au/home/inner.asp?pageid=159&main...

Re: Article: City Tram Track To Grow

If that line was done, mind if I make a couple of ammendments? Have the terminus of the line located on the north western side of South Road so you can't use the excuse of "South Road's in the way". Second, have the North Terrace - Port Road section on it's own reservation in the parkland...

[DEF] Re: AAMI Stadium to recieve a $70million facelift

Personally I have always thought redeveloping the current Santos stadium site would be the most practical place for a new stadium. It has good rail and bus transport and is not far from the extended tramline. All those posh pricks that want to have their champagne breakfast in the carpark could stil...

Re: Low to Mid-Rise CBD Development

However there are two fenced of blocks on Sturt St (one on the cnr of Whitmore Square). BTW Whitmore Square is very nice and has plenty of potential (like most things in Adelaide), but currently its very underdeveloped. It would be the least developed square in the city. The block on the corner of ...

Re: SA Closing the Gap on Other States

Supply and demand, Supply and demand if no one wants to live in an apartment, they cant build them!!! people want to live on the fringe with a backyard, so they build them!!! Sorry but i have to disagree with you as well. If you look at the number of subdivisions that are occuring mainly within the...

There is a better render in the city messenger if anyone has a scanner. It shows it from Wakefield St and actually looks pretty slick.

Re: Glenelg Tram Line Upgrade

I work day in day out with the elderly and one thing that gives me the shits is that at least 90% of these people complain about the traffic delays that the new tram will cause and either they dont drive at all, or drive to the city once every 12 months. These are also the same people that have noth...

Re: #Proposal - $260m Tram Line Extension to Port

Its interesting to here that there has been positive reaction to this extension. Now that we have gotten over the initial hurdle of the extension through the city hopefully these other proposals can cruise through. Apparantly the same thing happended in Portland when they first developed and expande...

Re: Festival Centre's debt to be completely wiped.

Cruise Control wrote:I must ask though how did they get in that debt?
Over 20m of that debt was actually government incurred debt going back to the original construction of the festival centre.
It has never been paid off until now so in reality the festival centre itself only had a small debt due to operations.

[CAN] Re: 123m 31 Level Office Tower 20 - 22 Currie St

A 20 level office building would be in the vicinity of 80m. This would violate the airport imposed height restrictions for that area of the city. THerefore that is an unlikely site for a 20 level building. If they chose the Currie Street bus depot, expect to see a campus style development. Probably...
