[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
Maybe this belongs in the Trams thread, but I don't really understand the push to put trams back down thoroughfares like Prospect Road, where they're just going to sit in traffic and get stuck at traffic lights, negating the benefit of building the line when it's still just as fast for people to dri...

Simple solution - put a rooftop bar on Festival Plaza Tower 2 Totally agree. Put a restaurant and bar up on the 38th floor! Views would be epic! Absolutely. I was lucky enough to work on the upper floors of Marina Bay Financial Centre (MBFC) Tower 2 Singapore, which had a craft brewery and restaura...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
It's all very strange. Adelaide Airport could be considered privately owned, to the extent the ownership structure is: UniSuper (51%) Hostplus (15%) IFM Investors (15%) Igneo Infrastructure Partners (15%) Perron Group (4%) So as Super account holders, some of us will already "own" a part o...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
On the flipside, other than tourism the South Island of NZ has bugger all industry (unless you count sheep farming), and their GDP per capita is significantly below Australia's. Granted the scenery in that part of NZ is beautiful, but there's a finite number of tourists that can be accommodated for ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
I posted this last week but wasn't very clear. In it, United talk about their 150 x 787 orders, and while Adelaide isn't specifically mentioned, it does say this: “There is a lot of potential [about Australia / NZ],” he said. “I’m not going to comment on specifics, but we absolutely have a lot of po...

While not mentioned directly, United have orders for 150 x 787's they're looking to utilise in the medium term:

Festival Towers 1 & 2 will have very limited parking, are very close (as close as you can get) to the railway station that all lines in Adelaide feed into, is close to the tram stop, bus stops, people can walk or cycle or walk along the river. It will be six star energy rated, and companies movi...

[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Incl. 115m Tower | $800 million
Loving this, for lots of reasons. Building higher along North Terrace creates a wonderful vista when looking from the river, and especially when flying into Adelaide from the east, with a row of tall(ish) buildings separated by the older buildings of North Terrace, and greenery along the river. It a...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
As someone with family in the South Island of NZ the one on this list that really annoys me is the lack of direct connection to Christchurch. Air NZ, Virgin or Qantas could do it easily with a new A320 or 737 if they wanted to, and a direct flight would turn a direct trip between Adelaide and Christ...

Save the Cranker firing into action. You heard it here first.
(I'm all for seeing our CBD grow up, just now historic pubs that are still a big part of our live music scene, when there are still plenty of other suitable sites available).

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
Basically what we've discovered is that if you have roads A, B and C that run north-south through the western suburbs of a city, and connect new expressways to the northern and southern ends of road B, that road approaches capacity very quickly. It shouldn't have come as too much of a surprise to an...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
If not for having to allow for ships and submarines in and out of Port Adelaide, it would be really easy to get a train from Outer Harbor to Two Wells, via Buckland Park, Riverlea Park and Port Gawler. It could use a lot of the existing heritage tram right of way down to the St Kilda. Something I've...

To be fair DIT have initiated a level crossing removal project across SA, but based on the current prioritisation the initial locations are to the north of the city: https://www.dit.sa.gov.au/infrastructure/road_projects/Level_Crossing_Removal_Planning_Program. There's also the Marion / Cross Road i...

[VIS] Re: Passenger Trains to Mount Barker
Of course the Victorians are eating our lunch. Their capital is about the same distance away from Mount Gambier as Adelaide, but is four times bigger. Victoria's Gross State Product is also roughly four times SA's. They also have large population centres like Portland and Warnambool much closer than...
