Re: News & Discussion: Cycling
https://i.imgur.com/RrfxyYj.png So the right turn into Gate 6 nearer Vic Dr is retained, and the other right turn further south (into 'Gate 4') will be defunct as it will be two exit-only lanes. Even though it will be defunct it looks like they are retaining it instead of expanding the median.. not...

Re: News & Discussion: Cycling
This is actual construction, which is meant to be beginning today. Bike SA and Bike Adelaide have been reporting this. I viewed the tender documents a few months ago, I assume not too much has changed in the final design. From Rundle St to North Tce we'll see a copy/paste of the bikeway as it exists...

[PRO] Re: New Police Barracks
This has to be it. The pinnacle of poor land use proposals in all of Adelaide city in the last decade. This even tops the data centre on Pirie/Frome :applause: I will admit that it is marginally better than letting the land continue to sit there unactivated. But incurring the opportunity cost of tur...

Re: Thebarton Brewery Site Redevelopment
A tram depot could easily be built at ground level and apartments built over the top. I am sure its been done elsewhere in thew world Without taking the thread too far off topic, is there a reason the Glengowrie depot can't be expanded? There's a fairly large amount of vacant land between the depot...

Re: News & Discussion: Other Metropolitan Developments
It's so clear he just doesn't understand anything beyond 'status-quo' planning, which is a huge part of what has gotten us into this housing mess. It is going to be painful to watch the next 3 years (or longer...) of this government. Champion should retire or resign if he doesn't want to lead in his...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands
I see no need to build facilities twice in a manner of decades, which is a bit wasteful and disruptive. I would rather they choose a site they can see working out, and committing to it. Thankfully that is what the Commissioner has done. The Police Association are so far the only real players calling...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands
I probably wouldn't have an issue if the horses were kept there, in a simple fenced off area, for a temporary amount of time. That scenario would be easily reversible/remediated. But as their Park 21 proposal showed, what SAPOL want is not just a field; it's buildings, offices, storerooms, carparkin...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands
Mounted police are used mainly in situations where crowd calming /control is required...usually tight urban conditions (in Adelaides case the CBD) where they can be deployed rapidly and easily even if just for a general Saturday night shift. The reason I suppose that the other states do not operate...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
I've left a lot of cycling- and pedestrian-related feedback. A couple of points I addressed: Lack of safety/protection for cyclists through intersections Prevalence of slip lanes – a very dangerous conflict point for motor vehicles/cyclists Inclusion of on-road bike lanes on the surface roads, which...

Also could have the long term opportunity for better pedestrianisation of West Terrace which is something that has long been talked about at a local government level. Ooo, could you expand on this or point me towards previous discussion? :D I haven't paid attention to/heard any talk of improving We...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
the reality would be that if you funnel Main North Rd traffic onto Le Fevere Tce, it would have to be widened to two lanes each way. Why would that be the reality? Some car traffic would take Jeffcot, some would take Lefevre, some would continue to take O'Connell, some may choose the ring road, som...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
If you were to divert traffic that way, would it be better to get rid of Medindie Rd and the section of Main North Rd through the parklands altogether, and re-route Le Fevere Tce directly to the Main North Rd / Robe Tce intersection? Would return a chunk to parklands (to offset any widening that wo...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Problem is, the reason O'Connell Street is so congested, is that are still way too many private vehicles using it, and KWS for that matter. It should not be a cars v tram thing, many of the cars should not be there in the first place. They should be doing more to find out why the cars are there, an...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Are you suggesting that one of the options is that the ACC would actually build the tram line as part of the streetscape upgrade? No, I would think any tram service is entirely dependent on State Govt and DIT. Pg 56 of the plans says "This concept allows for an interim planted median until the...
