Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn

Heavy rail capacity is much higher than the O'Bahn a six carriage train is over 1000 people while a artic bus is 80. That's a possible 30,000 people an hour, the O'Bahn can in theory run buses every 20 seconds but that's not happening, it's still only 14,000 people.

Re: News & Discussion: Other Metropolitan Developments

Dry Creek is Mawson Lakes 2.0. It's about 10km² compared to Mawson Lakes 6.5km², so 50% bigger. There's been plans for Dry Creek for at least a decade, these plans had 15,000 homes, a lake with islands and boat access to Barker Inlet. The new plan has 5,000 less homes, so this will mean bigger block...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

It's every 30 min weekdays for the inner stops on the Gawler line and hourly on weekends, absolutely terrible. I live near a minor stop further out and the frequency is half hourly at all times, that includes peak hour, the station is on a main road with a carpark and has only about 3 cars parked du...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

The local and express idea is a good but the frequency will be to low. What would happen is skip stop pattern A becomes express and pattern B becomes local. Local should be called all stops to make it less complicated. So we end up with two 30 min frequencies which really is shit. What we need is a ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Yeah that makes it way to complicated. The idea is to get as many services and people on the train in peak. There should be at least 8 tph in peak direction, maybe 3 run express. Simple timetables work the best. Skip stop sucks and 30 min frequency is shit in interpeak. It's either increase the freq...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Hopefully there's a new timetable once Ovingham reopens. There's a lot of new development in the inner suburbs and 1 tph on weekends is terrible. Also the weekday skip stop is archaic, stations such Munno Para and Womma need higher frequencies because they are close to booming new developments in Ey...

[APP] Re: 1-25 South Esplanade, Glenelg | 46m | 13 Levels | Apartments

The zoning is stupid here though. The 12 story zone should end at the suburb boundry, which is Pier Street not the little lane.

All of South Esplanade Glenelg should be in the higher zone. It's really odd and they have excluded this small section.

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

I know Osmond Terrace is really wide, but why would you do a weird little spur into Norwood when you can just run trams up George Street, it's pretty wide.

The main aim of the tram is to service the shopping areas.

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

If more trams are acquired to run extended or more frequent services, a new tram maintenance and storage facility will also be required. There are precedents for having that on parkland (Hackney Road) and CBD warehouse (Angas Street). I imagine that somewhere along Port Road at Thebarton might be a...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

Convert Outer Harbor line to light rail. Grade seperate, David Tce, Woodville Rd, Cheltenham Pde and Port Rd. You would probably see up to 24 tph in peak direction on the core line. So grade seperation is needed. Run trams to Outer Harbor, Grange (potentially Henley Beach / City if Airport / Henley ...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

I still think they should build a second station at Rosewater North (Edith Street). It's about 1km from Port Dock, 1.2km from Alberton and Port Adelaide is 1km walking, 1.5km driving, it's only like 650m as the crow flies. Rosewater North would be very useful for people living east of the Grand Junc...

Well it will only be like 1km from the new interchange to the top of Morphett Road. It will be quite steep, but probably quite useful.

[VIS] Re: Passenger Trains to Mount Barker

So over 600 people signed a petition to save the non existent "641F" bus. I'm guessing the minister meant 841F. The train is a nice idea, but it would be a very slow and windy journey. Adelaide Railway Station to Mount Barker Station is 55km via rail and 35km by road. That's about 60% long...
