[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

So you're suggesting that any closure of Grange and the cancellation of Port Dock is a personal up yours to the opposition? Are you suggesting that the line is actually viable in its current form? Are you suggesting Port Dock was a well thought out, vital PT asset? The Libs dislike rail in general,...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

This has been on the cards for about 30 years now. What is surprising is that Grange and Belair have survived so long. As previously pointed out, the amount of money to be spent even on getting stations along these lines up to a reasonable modern standard is not warranted given their use, when comp...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

with regard to the rail spur, I'm not sure many still understand that a heavy rail OH will lead to no other spurs. Grange is completely unsustainable, with West Lakes and Semaphore unsuitable for heavy rail due to street running. There will be no isolated tram system in the Port area, as local tran...

[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)

It’s a great building. Very glad it’s remaining too.

Adelaide has some great modernist (I guess this one is deco?) and brutalist buildings, which sadly are a bit unappreciated compared to the 19th century ones.

[APP] Re: 274 North Terrace ~55m | 16 Levels | Hotel

This could turn out great. The tiny size of the site will mean the architects at the very least will need to be somewhat creative with their design.

I like how it does just blend in and doesn't take away from the GPO or other historical buildings on the street
Agree with this. Also, if the Travelodge Hotel and offices at 42-56 Franklin Street both go ahead too, that will be quite a dense area of the city.

Re: The SA Politics Thread

Well yeh, Im aware. Im arguing against them having electorate offices and being paid as much as they are, plus having a small army or staffers. Isnt it astounding that while they maintain that level of extraordinary spending on the tax payers dime, they increase the cost of living on tax payers? Wh...

Re: The SA Politics Thread

So you're telling me that you can't find a small office to use temporarily while you're being paid a quarter of a million dollars? Of course the government is playing politics. I'm sure if you go back and look at every election Labor won you'd find similar stories of Liberal MP's waiting for their ...

I was clearly being somewhat facetious re: the Olympics being a poor man's world cup. That said, the football world cup is bigger than the Olympics and hosting it would be huge for Australia.

Re: The Federal Politics Thread

I'm not sure which Labor person I heard on radio this morning who actually gave the electorate credit for understanding Labor's policies, and rejecting them. He said the public had understood what was proposed, and didn't like it, so Labor should go back to the drawing board and come up with someth...

Re: Commonwealth Games in Adelaide

They're just a pissant version of the Olympics, which in itself is just a poor man's football world cup. Hopefully Australia bids on the latter sometime in the medium-term future and Adelaide can host matches for it.

Re: The Federal Politics Thread

Only Labor and their minions are out of touch. Hopefully Albanese takes the leadership and gets Labor back to their basics. Lol why? Because they offered an in-depth policy agenda including more for education, health etc. through closing absurd tax loopholes (and a major contributor to the structur...
