Re: SA Economy

it seems like everywhere else is doing that none of these things make the world a better place either building satellites and nuclear-powered submarines. He wants to continue Mr Marshall’s legacy by growing cyber, biotech, machine learning and other hi-tech industries there were positives to SA's st...

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development

The above picture is definitely that of the intersection of Rundle and Gawler Place, where the fountain was until 1995. The camera looks east - you can see John Martin’s (now DJ’s) and on the right Regent Arcade. Probably taken winter 1977 judging by the green looking hills and the mall’s young tre...

Re: News & Discussion: Low/Mid-Rise CBD Development

Although not a mandatory requirement, but one of the reasonable expectations of living in the CBD is that you don't have a car and engage in an active lifestyle utilising public transport, walking or cycling to get to and from places in nearby proximity. Car ownership and living in the CBD should n...

Re: News & Discussion: Low/Mid-Rise CBD Development

There really should be a supermarket every 500 metres in Adelaide city (ie the square mile). Unfortunately at the present time this can not be justified because the population density is too low.....and people will not move into the city if local services aren't convenient. Chicken and the egg argu...

Re: University of South Australia | Developments & News

Universities these days in this country are all about pushing through the highest volume of full fee paying students as possible rather than providing elite academic education. Majority of those being overseas students from places like China. Standards have dropped and students are often provided pa...

heritage isn't a consideration with this Labor government, as we've already seen
Seen where? They've been in power less than a year.
Presumably in reference to the nWCH

Re: University of South Australia | Developments & News

I do not understand the "forced" merger of these two universities - big is not beautiful and the culture at each of our three unis is quite different (which is not a bad thing - unis specialise). The best universities in the world are not the biggest - Adelaide as a population of 1.6m and...

Whats wrong with hot desking? Police don't get their own individual patrol vehicles, its not economical and a waste of tax payers money. If your jobs can be done in a hybrid mix, then that's a good thing. Saves us taxpayers having to fund personalised work stations for every public sector worker. I...

Re: News & Discussion: Laneway & Streetscape Projects

Moonta St, Gawler Pl connecting to Rundle Mall, and Bank street have the same design as this one with the road at the same height. Have not felt that any of those were unsafe, much the opposite really. Moonta St is a pedestrian mall with no traffic, Gawler place North is a dead end with no traffic....

with no demarcation between the pedestrian area and the vehicle road, this seems a bit of a safety hazard

Begs the question, will naming rights go to NAB or Telstra? I guess Services Australia won't put up the Centrelink sign. In a way, this is a further blow to CBD vacancy rates, with two larger (by square metre) high-rise buildings now to lose their anchor tenant to this building, not to mention a lo...

The City of Melbourne literally promote graffiti art as part of their aesthetic…

Once again abc, you’re an old man yelling at a cloud and not many people give a shit.
this isn't art
these are squatter tags
