[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)
If we as a state can't afford the Aboriginal cultural centre, then I wouldn't mind the land being returned to parklands either. I'd rather that than some ugly, boring or generic building that doesn't accord with the significance of North Terrace to Adelaide (I think the proposed cultural centre is q...

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
If the Aboriginal cultural centre doesn't go ahead, what could they possibly use that huge site for? Surely not some boring research centre - we'll have more than enough of those at Adelaide Uni, the SAHMRI area and Lot 14. I'd like to see some kind of museum or other grand public building, of artis...

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
I went to the MONA for the first time recently and loved it, even though modern art isn't my cup of tea. But could Adelaide pull off such a thing? We do have a national and international reputation for our 'alternative' arts scene (think the Fringe). This is what the Myer Centre currently looks like...

Our division has moved in and everyone's pleased. The views are pretty cool, and I guess these exact angles were never seen before the building was built:

[U/C] Re: Central Market Arcade Redevelopment | 130m | 39 levels
Precisely. The critical thing is walking out of a shop or cafe and already being in the square, no mental or physical effort required. And good point about paved versus grass. For me personally, I'd much rather walk around a paved plaza in winter than squelch into a muddy grassy park. One of my favo...

[U/C] Re: Central Market Arcade Redevelopment | 130m | 39 levels
I certainly wish we had European-style piazzas, but I also agree that Aussies won't take to that kind of thing like the Europeans. Adelaide ain't Prague. In my view, the key would be putting such a piazza in a place that naturally gets foot traffic because of all the surrounding businesses, and have...

Ten years - that's a long time. Since 2010, thirteen years ago, that area has had: - The new Royal Adelaide Hospital - The Adelaide Convention Centre redevelopment - The Adelaide Oval redevelopment - The Adelaide Oval footbridge - The casino expansion - The first SAHMRI building - The Adelaide Uni b...

Today's progress:
Maybe having such a high-end development will put pressure on surrounding property owners to increase the general aesthetic standards of the precinct.

[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Incl. 115m Tower | $800 million
I love the shots from the North Adelaide area. It's certainly a modernisation of the skyline. In fact, I would say the southbound journey past the Women's and Children's and St Peter's Cathedral is the grand entrance to Adelaide, the most beautiful angle from which to enter. This was taken on 31 Jul...
