[COM] Re: APP: Rundle Mall Redevelopment | $50m

Why does the thread title state $50 million as the project cost? News reports are still travelling with the original $30 million figure.

[COM] Re: U/C: South Road Superway | $842m | 3km

I don't like paying tolls either (always avoid them when I go interstate) but as long as there is a choice I see it it's the most fair option. Think about it: why should people who don't have/use a car pay for freeways? Why should folks in Wudinna finance more free flowing traffic across the metro ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

Guys, keep in mind David is talking about the 'remainder of the square mile' not already covered by the State Government’s Capital City DPA. So even Rau and his govt mates have 'fenced off' certain areas from high rise. So you can jump up and down, rant & rave, and hold your breath, but it will...

Well done guys! To be honest, this forum should probably be mobilised to support progressive policy more often.

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

Once Aldi and Costco open, all the major national chains will be represented in Adelaide, along with the local guys Foodland. Would I be right in thinking Adelaide has the most competitive market in the country?

I doubt they have any CBD locations planned, but this still seemed the most appropriate thread to place this in: Aldi flags expansion to SA ABC News Online , 12 February 2013 Supermarket chain Aldi says it will open stores in South Australia, expanding its Australian reach beyond the east coast. The...

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development

Disheartening news. This Radelaide revival we've been undergoing has been coming along in leaps and bounds, so for this the next step to be blocked is an outrage. The Liberals' apparent support for the existing licensing laws is, at its simplest, crony capitalism -- prolonging a market that advantag...

Re: News & Discussion: Laneway Revitalisation Projects

oh my, just rode into town and noticed the scaffolding was gone from Peel Chambers on Peel Street. What an absolutely stunning old building has been uncovered. The yucky greenish paint is gone and the most beautiful old brickwork has been exposed. Now one of the most elegant, old, important buildin...

I completely agree that that should be considered. One of the things I don't feel was ever properly address in the redevelopment master plan was the connection to the river from North Terrace; your solution would certainly does.

I bet we don't even get palm trees in Rundle Mall after all this fuss and palava. Incredible! Wot Well to me it goes without saying that an open mall of this type needs Palm trees along it. They add enormously to the aesthetic appeal of such malls. Yet for some reason Adelaide council insists on ju...

Two fairly insightful articles from the ABC (of course): * http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-01-24/major-oil-discovery-in-outback-sa/4481982?section=sa * http://www.abc.net.au/unleashed/4484142.html The first also bandied the $20 trillion figure, but is far more in depth, while the second adds some pe...
