Re: Euro-style Supermarket - anyone tested it?

It could be something to do with it being the morning and me not having my coffee yet, but I do not understand why not having plastic bags makes shopping without a car more impractical? Also, when I shop, I am buying for a week - I don't know anyone that will walk/cycle/bus a week's worth of food ho...

Re: Euro-style Supermarket - anyone tested it?

If it's plastic bag free then it can't truly be environmentally friendly, because lack of plastic bags encourages car use. Did you read that in a text book? Can you elaborate? Interesting article about plastic bags too: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/earthcomment/3316094/The-plastic-bag-debate.html

Wow... Surprising choice considering their initial RFP and the location and calibre of some of the other mooted developments. But, it is good to see that the Government has not backed out of going ahead with this. Urban... yes, there are sites closer to the core that could be developed, but it doesn...

Drawing lines in MS Paint does not make you a transport engineer. Of course it doesn't, but a UniSA degree in Civil Engineering does. I graduate this month. Are you having a laff? Seriously ? An underground railway! HAHAHAHHA I'm entirely serious. Adelaide is the biggest city in Australia without o...

Since we're already off topic with the talk of 400km/h Veyrons, I thought I'd like to ensure you all that if there's too many rich schmucks driving Veyrons, Bugatti has devised a cunning plan to sort out the rich schmucks from the really rich schmucks. Personally, I just think they want to reclaim ...

Re: The Real Estate Shonks Thread

What happens if they default? Have the council then given the land away for nothing? Good question... I assume you mean default on the traditional mortgage component of the loan? It would be set up in such a way that the council have first rights to recover costs... ie. purchaser defaults on main m...

Re: The Real Estate Shonks Thread

I first heard about this concept about 12 months ago, I can't remember where... some breakfast or cocktail show... Anyway, whilst very sceptical about the whole "something for nothing thing" I would suggest people wait for the full terms and conditions to be released before canning the crap out of a...

Sorry to dampen enthhusiasm on this one but I can confirm that the builder HY, the developer Hills andthe potential JV partner Walker group have ALL closed their books on this one at least for the immediate future! So nothing anytime soon and another vacant block to be turned into a car park, one w...

WARNING: Rant in progress :) 1) Read the news, financial instituations are dying! 2) My father worked in big dollar corporate lending for a major global financial provider, during the last recession he was actually instructed to stop lending. It does happen! 3) Banks are still writing loans, but are...

Um.. guys.. how do we know that they haven't secured a major tenant yet? Just because someone one here doesnt know or hasn't posted anything doesnt mean that things arent progressing in the background!!! So how about we stop speculating and wait for some hard facts?? This is a hard fact - there is ...

Re: #Official Mining Thread

I know its too early to be speculating specifics, but if there's talking about creating a new subsidary specifically for ODX - how much space would BHP need? 20,000? 40,000? 60,000? Surely theres a guesstimate on that? Speculating specifics? thats a bit of a contradiction in terms isn't it? The cal...

Re: #Official Mining Thread

There's a very good possibility (as the industry rumours go) that BHP will have a substantial office presence in the Adelaide CBD for the Olympic Dam project. In fact, ODX is so large & complex that BHP might even spin off a separate subsidiary company here in SA to independently manage the operati...
