Re: Another widespread power outage in SA

The blatant politisiation of the the power outages by the Fed Libs is a complete and utter disgrace and the definition of "fake news". These blackouts have been caused by a variety of factors include 1) weather events 2) predatory price fixing behaviour by generators 3) The infamous operational inte...

Re: Uber

JAKJ, I believe that Uber is operating here in Adelaide as they were advertising for drivers about a month ago. I wouldn't imagine that the money invovled in driving for Uber would be too good. Last time I was in Adelaide (two weeks ago) they only had uber black not uber x, but I wouldn't be surpri...

Re: Uber

Uber black is more expensive, but they use "town cars" i.e. Holden Caprices. Uber x is cheaper (30% cheaper) than taxis, however they have not launched in Adelaide yet (I exclusively use them in Perth as no patiences for crappy taxis anymore). I have found Uber X to provide a great service and have ...

[APP] Re: ONH: Former LeCornu Redevelopment | 20m | 6lvls | Mixed

it doesn't get much clearer than that! Oh really? And this is what I asked... Is anyone able to compile a list of proposals for this site, the year they were proposed, and whether council approved or rejected the proposal? It couldn't have been put any clearer. You didn't have to give us a pointles...

[APP] Re: ONH: Former LeCornu Redevelopment | 20m | 6lvls | Mixed

No proposal was ever officially lodged with the council. http://mobile.news.com.au/national/finally-an-end-to-le-cornu-site-feud/story-e6frfkp9-1225748387842 Also, as I stated before, from 2007 onwards the council has not had any decision making power over the site, so any opposition from the counci...

http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2007-05-01/lecornu-development-plan-deemed-major-project/2536960 That's 7 years ago now. Anything past this date the council has not had a say. The State government also provided final approval for the submitted proposal in 2008, 6 years ago. It is also worth noting tha...

It's got beyond a joke with that site. I pretty much agree with what was suggested in the Advertiser. The site has become significant to Adelaide in its current state and should be preserved and heritage listed. It's a monument to the great Adelaide tradition of missed opportunities. They should in...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

Lol at Cr. Anne "no" Moran. Truth hurts does it? What a goose! One of the quirks of Adelaide that I love is that in this city, the 'rich'tossers of North Adelaide think they're better than everybody else, but for their sins we make them live under the predominant flight path of Adelaide Airport. En...

It will be interesting to see how quickly public transport is adopted for travelling to games. I know a lot of nervous North Adelaide residents who are worried about North Adelaide turning into a car park on game day.

Maybe a stretch of the topic, but an interesting video promoting Adelaide in the 50s when it was going through its industrial transformation. 6 minutes onwards for economic info (including vehicle manufacturing). A sobering contrast to the reality today. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkdHlC8rK1g Al...

Re: Holden 'to close Australian operations in 2017'

Holden produce a good product (just google the reviews for the new Chevrolet SS and the Pontiac G8/ GTO still have a cult following in the US) that GM could and should have marketed off-sure as a niche model, a cut-price rival to the 5 series/ E-Class. If it was offered in the world's top ten market...

Re: Holden 'to close Australian operations in 2017'

It's probably never been viable to build cars in Australia without tariffs or government support but all previous governments have thought it in our national interest to have an industrial capacity to build motor vehicles. Our Industrial capacity was the sort of thing that gave us the edge over our...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Parklands

Step 1). Fully utilise the Glenelg treated sewerage pipeline and water everything during summer. That would cost some $ but provide a massive improvement to just have green and grassy spaces all year round. Adelaide doesn't quite have the urban mass to justify Central-park style landscaping of all t...
