[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel
The hill at Adelaide Oval is also important because it ties Adelaide Oval into feeling as though it is part of the parklands, rather than just plonked on top of them. It's very common to see overseas tourists at Lights Lookout getting photos with that view into the oval behind them. I have no doubt...

Re: Kangaroo Island | Developments & News
Is it just me, or does anyone else think KI is one of the most over-rated destinations in Australia. Its not like interesting rock formations, deserted beaches and cold windswept coastal environments are in short supply anywhere else in Australia. Added to that, Kingskote, not the most attractive c...

Looking at the Skycity thread, it seems all the beautiful dark reflective glass they had for this site in their renders must have been delivered to the casino instead.

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
I doubt that it really has to do with the stamp duty concession (that was a rebate of 2-3%, if I get that right, so nothing that's really not that far off normal annual price volatility) Maybe, but I wouldn't be so sure. Stamp duty concessions on the apartments made a massive difference in the size...

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
Since the change in government last year we have had no new large apartment buildings start pre sales that i can think of. I assume this is because of the now killed off stamp duty concession. Once Realm, Adelaidean and Luminesque are complete over the next 12 months there is nothing else in the pi...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line
The long term cost of ripping up a train line also has to be considered. Adelaide has a history of reusing the land for residential and commercial purposes that make a rebuild of the lines impossible. If a train route is being under-utilized that is a good sign the area has a strong potential for fu...

[APP] Re: 274 North Terrace ~55m | 16 Levels | Hotel
I'm pretty sure the is the budget site opposite Adelaidean. Yep. It'll have to be a very very skinny 16 storey building. The site is only 7.87m wide. https://img.agentaccount.com/db7b858c47b795ecbcdd1ddf803378a3a407e450 That is absolutely tiny. It would also guarantee a blank east facing wall since...

Yes, there’s fire boundary regulations, but in the case of this building, they’ve already been prepared to set back at some levels to allow openings. I don’t understand why they wouldn’t at more levels, except to avoid glazing costs. The floor plates would still be substantial even with more of a s...

Apparently Cory Bernardi is thinking about rejoining the Libs.
Hopefully they just "say no".

Re: SA Economy
It’s good Marshall is investing heavily in infrastructure in the budget. If as he says, the interest rate is only 1.66% its worth borrowing and makes sense to invest in projects that earn more than they cost. While our debt has gone to $21bn I still think he could have gone even more gang busters o...
