Re: State Election 2010

There is also the thinking that says it is not so much a case of Aboriginals happening upon the perfect fire strategy for the Australian landscape, but rather that the Australian landscape has shaped itself based on tens of thousands of years of Aboriginal fires. Ultimately it makes no different to ...

Re: #PRO: City Busway - O-Bahn to West Tce

From the article Bay Transit posted: http://www.sensational-adelaide.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=74808#p74808 A multi million dollar State Government commitment to extend the O-Bahn bus service into the City Centre and replace its ageing fleet has been delayed. Just 2 of the 97 new O-Bahn buses-promis...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Convention Centre and Riverbank Redevelopment

I agree with most... I also suggest the walking bridge be undercover as AFL is a winter sport and most spectators hate walking in the rain - esp. if umbrellas arent allowed [in the stadium like AAMI]! Maybe they need to look at a monorail option to give something for the tourists to do and link it ...

Painful as it is, I think it's getting close to pass by the mourning stage and take that sexy beast out of the Sensational Adelaide banner and memorialize it in this thread.

[COM] Re: Adelaide Convention Centre and Riverbank Redevelopment

So what is there to draw you into the area 7 days a week? Just like the Liberals plan, the answer is nothing The bigger question is that given the nearby vicinity of Rundle Street and O'Connell Street is there any need for another major cafe strip that would draw in people 7 days a week? This isn't...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Convention Centre and Riverbank Redevelopment

5V9fRPzvtm8 Looks like they are planning on building up the western side of the Morphett St bridge as well, curious that the video seems to be very intentionally not pointing down that way. Is this the first time we have seen how the footbridge over the Torrens is expected to work? Seems it doesn't...

Re: Public appeal succeeds in Skyshow's return

It was certainly good timing coinciding with the last night of the Fringe as well. I had to work so couldn't attend but it sounds like Adelaide CBD would have been an amazing place to be last night!

Re: BIG ideas for a little city

It's a similar situation where we live, by Winston Avenue, which has a modest collection of shops - including a strangely large number of hairdressers (three within walking distance, more further along) - but it lost a green-grocer, a GP, and the home-brew shop in the time we were away. All of the ...

Re: BIG ideas for a little city

More and larger neighbourhood shopping precincts, ones that you can walk to from your home. Every second suburb should have one. Maybe every suburb. The tricky thing with these is doing it, and making it work. Elizabeth was designed with each of the sub-suburbs having their own little central shopp...

Here are three shots from Saturday night, the 6th of March 2010. The canopy was continuously cycling through different colours and patterns. The LED signs in the background were dazzling when displaying a lot of white. Thanks Bill. These photos are dazzling! This venue will add a lot of interest an...

Re: Puzzle Park redevelopment

Adelaide simply doesn't have the population to support a major theme park, people need to get some context. Alton Towers for example attracts almost three million visitors a year, that means everyone of a suitable age in the entire state would have to visit twice a year to support something like it ...

Re: #U/C: Port Adelaide Tram Line

I am confused on how we going to run trains to Outer Harbor and run tram-trains along part of the corridor between Bowden and Port Adelaide, considering the tram-trains would need to be low-floor so passengers can get on in the city streets and the trains would need to be high floor so passengers c...

What's wrong with bare concrete?
Nothing so long as it looks good, that doesn't.
