bring in request stops

nothing worse than stopping at every stop and no-one gets on/off at half of 'em
Not really a good idea for trains, then they'll either have to go slower or run ahead of schedule.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Does Bowden deserve 2 railway stations serving the area? You already have one heavy rail line, one tram line and buses......How much public transport do you want for such a small area? The Gawler railway line is better utilised as some sort of express line that serves the outer northern suburbs, me...

In my mind Tambelin is too close to Evanston (which is in the middle of the suburb)

And having some students use a railway station twice a day.....is that enough to justify its existence?
High peak hour usage is a good reason to keep transport infrastructure, yes.

I am one of those people who favour closing stations, here is my list : Gawler Line Close North Adelaide as a train station (but keep and protect the heritage building) Remove : Greenfields, Nurlutta, Womma, Kudla, Tamblin, and Gawler Oval. A new station can be built between Muno Parra and Gawler i...

Why isn't SA going after Virgin? Queensland is looking to keep Virgin operations based there. As a major destination for domestic and international tourists it's also in their best interests for there to be affordable airfares to QLD. SA doesn't have a Virgin base here with jobs to protect, we woul...

I wonder if this relates back to the engine fire that happened a few months ago. Hopefully it's not too serious as all engines were replaced just a year or so ago.
Been two fires.
It's definitely related to that from what I've heard from those involved in sorting the situation out.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Marshall's advantage is the handling of the COVID pandemic. People will remember that for years to come. That isn't borne out by political history for the most part. Even if people have a strong good opinion of leaders actions during a crisis, that often doesn't translate to a change in voting inte...

Adelaide Metro trams being trialled in the snow of Ploiești. r_uO6xNnczk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_uO6xNnczk I know, I know, that's not literally an Adelaide Flexity, but it looks soooo close in the same livery. A brief amount of internet research has returned nothing on why they chose the ...

Re: Discussion: 20-Year State Infrastructure Strategy

The list is fair enough, and given the pace of developement so far, seems pretty ambitious for 20 years. But we've had these 20 or 30 year strategies before.. only to amount to very little. This lot have certainly demonstrated their independence from the government though... I'm surprised given tha...

Re: New Madrid Style Food Market on East End

Best to focus on improving the Central Market, I would think. Part of its success is because it's so crowded; diluting that with another market could have adverse effects. There's a reason the original East End Produce Market ended. Plus, the redevelopment of the Arcade provides a perfect opportuni...

That seems like a good basic list that should be taken as the minimums to be accomplished.

My initial comment about Tesla/SpaceX etc, wasn't for SpaceX rockets and his big shiny silver 'space ship' to be launched here, it was a general comment. Perhaps they could launch things from here. Perhaps they could use the Woomera range to do test launches. But what they could definitely do is do...
