[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)

Given the tech focus (which aligns well with the Smart Cities work the council has been doing with Cisco) of Lot 14, I don't understand why the Liberals want to put a food & hospitality school there. That should go to the Central Market redevelopment, per its district plan . Exactly and what better...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

I keep hearing that three stations are or could be on the chopping board on the Seaford line. Has anyone else heard this information and which ones? FFS, why? What is it with the Libs are butchering everything they get their hands on, Seaford doesn't need station closures, they need more frequent s...

[APP] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

If the discussion on this thread are anything to go by, the arguments against retaining the hill are completely unfounded, and as for the Commonwealth Games bid, Glasgow and Gold Coast both built a temporary stands over their hill and I suspect the same will happen in Adelaide because it's cheaper, ...

What it is about you people and comparing what we have to other states? AO isn't symmetric like Perth Stadium, cool, who really cares? I don't think people come to the oval and say to themselves: "Gee, this stadium is shit because the stands are not all the same height!" OR "Look at that mound, it ...

[VIS] Re: Interstate Trains at Adelaide Railway Station

What is the benefit of changing from broad to standard gauge for the metro rail network now that it is isolated from what is left of the regional/interstate network? One benefit off the top of my head (and this might seem stupid, but it has been done with buses) we could be buying excess/older roll...

[VIS] Re: Interstate Trains at Adelaide Railway Station

We should demand that all suburban lines be standardised as promised in 2007 to be completed by 2013 then we not be worrying about different gauges and trains could return to Bridge Water and extend to Mt Barker. Agree. IMO, that's the only way we'd see regional services recommence. And there ought...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Belair as light rail? The Glenelg line is 16 kms (including the Entertainment Centre extension) and feels like it takes forever to get from A to B. The Belair Line is 21km so that would be even worse, I really don't see how light rail is a viable option for that corridor when you factor in speed (an...

Someone mentioned closing stations, I don't think that is required, Lynton is actually a very busy stop. That was me. Agree that Lynton is a busy stop, but I'm looking at it more from the perspective that Torrens Park is way ridiculously close to Mitcham, and Lynton is too far for the people that u...

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

a city with the size and population of adelaide needs a north south non stop motorway at the very minimum. we are the only mainland capital city without one and have fallen well behind. Not quite.. in Sydney there is still 8km of arterial road with about 22 sets of lights between the M2 Motorway an...

While I am one that hates to see rail closed, for any reason, Belair line,-like Grange, is really not economically viable long term. There is very little provision for major population increase along Belair corridor, and the population at the top end is sparsely spread. I beg to differ. For one, I ...

Well I'm surprised that the developer didn't wait for the neighbouring block to hit the market before they did anything with this site.

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Service & Policy

Yeah, teasing projects for a Com Games bid that we won't necessarily win. Not to show a lack of enthusiasm but if a part of this package for our bid includes rail extensions, sporting infrastructure upgrade etc, if we lose that bid, none of these things will happen.

[PRO] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

So a $40m price tag is too much for something that has already been promised and there is a lot riding on this project going ahead meanwhile the government have promised $98m for an upgrade of the Magill Road/Port Rush Road intersection which is total funding overkill.
