[COM] Re: 231-243 Waymouth Street | 55m | 17lvls | Student Accom

I think I'm no longer somewhat taken in by this and back to disliking it. Why is there that variation in the concrete colour, and why do most of the panels look more grey than white like they're supposed to? If the difference is meant to reduce over time, will the building look more white or grey? I...

Not pretty. Admittedly I'm not sure how much more they can do on such a narrow little site, and it looks like they've put in a little effort breaking up the southern wall, but still. That eastern wall is bad, and will be prominent along that street until something else goes up, which may be a long t...

Nothing too exciting, but I heard an ad on the radio for this development while driving along. Towards the end, I'm not sure the exact wording, but they also something along the lines of construction on this starting next month. Putting aside the possibility that the developers are being overly opti...

Thanks for that! Shame about the Ruthann Mansions, would be a good opportunity to put a centralised air-conditioning system in to remove those air-conditioners on the balconies, also a good opportunity to source more upper market tenants for the ground level. Does this mean that the balconies that ...

So when can we expect work to begin? Weeks? Ben said a page back that Maxcon are going from bohem to here (kind of like Watpac from Central Adelaide to Kodo), so if that's true then this one will probably begin late this year/early next year, depending on how long bohem has left. Surely they'd wait...

[U/C] Re: SkyCity Adelaide Casino Expansion | 12 lvls | 53m | $330m

Why? If I were to hazard a guess, I would say rev doesn't care for the light brown concrete colour. It is reflective of the whole area prior to the Festival Centre/Plaza upgrade. Coupled with the lack of activation in the vicinity, the brown concreted ground found all over that area was uninviting ...

Thanks for the new perspective! Unihouss is a such a grotty building. That entire intersection is underdone. Obviously we'll be stuck with the car parks for a long time to come, but I would've thought there'd be strong cases for redevelopment of both Citi Arcade and Grottyhouse. True. I can't see U...

Re: Interactive Map of Adelaide CBD Development

I posted these to SkyscraperCity a few weeks ago, but I thought I might post them here. For those of you who haven't seen my post in the Pub, I made a new 3D model of Adelaide and colour-coded each 35m+ building corresponding to the decade in which they were built (Red = Pre-1960s, Pink = 1960s, Ora...

Here's the angle I mentioned the other day. It's not actually quite as prominent along Pulteney as I originally thought, but I suppose it fills a gap. I also think I saw that they've installed some windows along the lower levels of the southern wall, but I'm not certain. http://i.imgur.com/qN6exdR.j...

This one is starting to have a huge impact on North Terrace, and I believe it's also now very visible along some parts of Pulteney Street (I think in Hindmarsh Square, near the Crowne Plaza).

I was expecting a modular design given that Intro seem to be designing a lot of those. That tower looks fine, so it's a good result compared to the hit and miss modular designs. I don't adore the renovation to the existing part, but that seems to be the style and it's definitely an improvement on wh...

Cantilever the new structure over the existing building so that it isn't carrying any additional loads. This has been done recently on a couple of projects in Sydney where the section of building directly over the existing utilises hanging columns and diagonals to transfer the load across to a core...

Probably the same manner in which they open lower levels of skyscrapers in other parts of the world, while work continues on upper levels? Sorry if my original comment wasn't clear. I'd say that's more of a logistical thing. What I meant was how is the existing structure going to take the new dead ...

It will be interesting to see from an engineering perspective how they plan on building above the current structure if they aren't getting rid of it. Also, is it possible that the 22 storeys are above the existing ~5 storey building? If so, at about 27 storeys, that would be very prominent for the a...

[U/C] Re: Currie/Rosina St | 115m | 32lvl | Sofitel

The new height is 117m due to adding a ballroom level with a height of 5.5m. On the height, I'm confused. In the original proposal, the building was 152.64m AHD to the top of the plant, and 41.940m AHD at ground level, resulting in a height of 110.70m, which is what I thought the height was origina...
