[COM] Re: SkyCity Adelaide Casino Expansion | 55m | 12 Levels | Hotel

I won't deny it - those escalators look hideous and spoil the whole look. Not sure why they couldn't have incorporated escalators into the Casino from the station tunnel... And then left the stairs the way they are. Probably due to the surge of people exiting Adelaide Oval over the footbridge after...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

There are a total of 7 parcels on that site, and the hotel only covered half of the site. This could be the sale of either the hotel site or the remainder of the site. Who knows... The renders appear to show it taking up the whole site though. Lots 2-7 are the lots which included the hotel site. Lo...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

Hopefully Stage 2 is not too far away, as not the whole block will be covered. Either that, or they at least put up a pop-up park in its place until Stage 2 can commence. I understand that the block at the lighthouse end is owned by another party. Hence the design emphasis of the Hotel is focused o...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

The improvements from the original plans are great. This is an iconic site which was the location of the first wharf and the first warehouse in the inner Port, opened in 1840. The hurdle of the original height limit (5 floors) looks like being negotiated through, after the other improvements. Includ...

[VIS] Re: New inner-city stadium

Seems to be an appetite for chewing up some more parklands for this. How about considering the Showgrounds? Multiple train routes and the tram already right on the doorstep, and major traffic arteries radiating in all directions. Local parking infrastructure currently servicing tens of thousands of ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses

Under this plan my local service goes from the current 50 minute direct service to the city to a “connector” service via West Lakes. i.e. changing buses (commuter poison). If DIPTI is using low patronage as an excuse they haven’t factored in that current patronage is low due to the ridiculous curren...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

The Port could get a massive profile boost with some creative lighting featuring the Birkenhead Bridge as the centrepiece. Upgrading the lighting on the lighthouse and surrounding buildings would also add significant vibe at least at night, for a relatively low cost.

Sadly it’s looking pretty true to the render. Was hoping for a big variation for the better but alas.

I bet these guys also voted against trams and bus lanes

The intersection needs an upgrade, its unfortunate but needed.

Move on.
Great. Move on. If it was your home and you were not adequately compensated for it’s destruction would you be happy to “move on”?

[COM] Re: Birkenhead Bridge Upgrade Project

Ok, I wasn't going to weigh in to this absurd idea, but what would the actual benefit be of such a bridge? I can think of only negatives. - Loss of open space - Loss of views - Encouragement of through traffic, especially heavy vehicles - Loss of trees and shrubs - Loss of potential buildings, such...
