[COM] Re: UC: Torrens Footbridge | $40m

The landscaping on both sides of the river is moving fast. At least 50 workmen there at lunchtime today. Hopefully the lights will be on for the football tonight.

[COM] Re: UC: Torrens Footbridge | $40m

So after using it tonight. For 300 dsys of the year it isn't needed it is fine. For the days it was specifically built for, to move football crowds, it isn't. Just because some people walk slow and hold up the rest, doesn't mean there's a flaw in the design of the bridge. I remember during the cric...

Looks like a nice building on the left, long gone, where the "jewel box" now is.

So what is one supposed to do with a 3 year lease at this site? http://www.commercialrealestate.com.au/property/8975431/for-lease/sa/adelaide/hotel-leisure/showrooms-bulky-goods Perhaps we'll be blessed with another showroom for bankrupt piano stores, or a junkyard for developers to leave their mes...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Parklands

As a local resident I'm thrilled that the ugly and run down changing sheds are gone and a sleek new multi-purpose building's replacing it. At the rear of the build is also a new and very spiffy fitness station free for the public to use and already in operation.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

The pictured Garden Walk is amazing, but why not go a step further and give at least 75% of the Government House Gardens back to the people? Security fence (tastefully) off the immediate area around Government House, and remove sections of the current stone wall along North Terrace and open it right...

It's looking good and am looking forward to the waterfall feature esp. lit up at night... Does anyone know if this and the water feature near the Festival theatre steps will be on 24/7? My only negative comment is the random lighter colour paving design on the bridge...why? I reckon the crazy pavin...

The exterior panels are going up on the river side. Not sure how the brown and beige colours reflect the South Aussie outback as was the stated intention, but it looks pretty good so far. The panel installation process is relatively fast so the river façade should be pretty well finished soon. The ...

[COM] Re: UC: Torrens Footbridge | $40m

I travel along Memorial Drive every day to/from work and the volume of foot traffic on the (unfinished) bridge is constant at any time of day. A lot of the users seem to be tourists too. The claims by bridge opponents which still permeate the legacy media about the bridge only being used on "30 days...

I went for a ride this morning (not even knowing it will be opened tomorrow). The bridge is looking great, will have to go for another ride in tomorrow and hopefully be able to ride across. Never thought a bridge would excite me, but Adelaide really is starting to look real nice especially from dow...

There are two There's obviously the waterfall on the Oval side, but also the cascading garden water feature thing that trickles down alongside the stairs on the Festival Theatre side. The Oval side waterfall was where they were installing pipes today. Not sure how the Festival Theatre water feature...

[COM] Re: UC: Torrens Footbridge | $40m

I've never seen tarmac painted to look like pavers, but it certainly sounds tacky. What's wrong with actual pavers? Also, I thought I'd read somewhere that the bridge itself was supposed to have some sort of water features, but I can't see any in those photos. Does anyone here know more about this?...

[COM] Re: UC: Torrens Footbridge | $40m

it is a great footbridge but it still doesn't really achieve what it set out to. you have to cross a road once you get off and go through the back door of the train station, both aren't great outcomes in my opinion. hopefully, down the track they will be able to upgrade the entrance to the train st...
