Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

If the privatisation brings genuine improvements and efficiencies, then it might be a good thing. I'm curious to see what their offers would be and what improvements they are proposing.

There's an article on AdelaideNow about the bidders for the train contracts. Can someone copy and paste the article here please?

[U/C] Re: Flinders Rail Link

A curved station could not be built today as it creates gaps between the train and the platforms. Even at Footscray in Melbourne they have straightened up the platforms to comply with disability standards. The only way around it world be to rebuild the station north of the junction. Either way, I do...

[U/C] Re: Flinders Rail Link

I think you're overestimating the amount of traffic in the area. In all the times I've driven through I've rarely encountered a single car in the area. This, plus the fact that the Flinders Line will have a low frequency, makes grade separation pointless. I was hoping for something better regarding...

I think a 25-30,000 seat rectangular stadium would be sufficient for Adelaide and Adelaide United. Adelaide Oval can host the bigger games, including the games for the world cup. Anyone who has been to a soccer game at Suncorp Stadium can tell you that 8000 people in a 50,000 seat stadium is terrib...

Do the columns wed this site to the existing design or would it be possible for another design to be engineered to the same...

"Last month, ACMA chair Nick Begakis told a council committee meeting the market would require extra financial assistance from the council during construction. He said 260 fewer car parks would be available for customers during that period." Sure, 260 fewer car parks out of how many in the surround...
