[COM] Re: #Rejected: Aurora on Pirie, 15st 55m

I also suspect that the decision from the council was politically driven. There will be a council election later this year. In addition the extreme nostalgia lobby is very strong in the city, particularly in North Adelaide and around East Terrace. I suspect the councillors want to beef up their NIM...

[COM] Re: #Rejected: Aurora on Pirie, 15st 55m

Everybody relax. The project will proceed. The first application is always an ambit claim. Developers believed they haven't pushed the rules hard enough if they get approval 1st time. They will now appeal and go to negotiation. The sums would have been done on a 40m building and they will hope to ne...

Re: The Missing Piece/s

If you remove the car park entrance from btwn the casino and parliament house you actually have a good sized courtyard for medium sized gatherings. (The car park has other entrances). This could then be joined up with the Festival plaza for larger events.

[COM] Re: What next for Victoria Square?

Thanks AtD.

From memory Harbo got over the line on votes based on his promise to provide an additional floor of carparking above the markets. I'm sure he would have realised the existing structure would not take the additional weight.

Re: Adelaide Parklands Trail - new and improved!

The plan is to do a complete loop of the parklands but there are a few sections where they are going to have difficulties:
- Botanic Gdns
- Old Adelaide Gaol precinct

Re: News from the ACC

There are currently a couple of these electric buses running around NZ but they are charged from the grid whereas the ACC bus will be charged from solar panels at the depot as toby1 said.

Technically it is the first public bus to be powered solely by solar power.

32

Interesting to note that those most often told to get in the real world are older.

[COM] Re: #Proposed : Aurora on Pirie, 15st 55m

It would be great to see the streets in the south west corner of the square removed to allow the square to be connected to the new development.

Re: City Central - Latest News

If the Currie St proposal goes ahead that would make a good cluster of 100m buildings.

Now we just need some tall buildings down the south end of King William St.

Re: A little help? Regarding renting an apartment in Adelaide

If you live off Daws Rd you will need to buy a car and then pay for parking at RAH. If you are happy with apartment living I'd strongly recommend getting an apartment in the East End of Adelaide where you will be close to shops, restaurants, work, transport etc. In your situation I would go for some...

Re: Vertical Farming - useful or not?

Personally I would love to see a high rise building in Adelaide with vegetated walls and roof. They achieve many environmental benefits including: - reducing the heat island effect that occurs in CBD's thus reducing A/C loads etc. - converting CO2 to O2 - reducing wind tunnel effect - provide habita...

Re: Low to Mid-Rise CBD Development

Good to see some extra activity in this location. The design is better than some nearby (ie the existing building behind as seen in the render) but is still pretty ordinary. Why would you trust a building of this size and complexity to a draftsman?
