[COM] Re: #Rejected: City Central Tower 8 20 Lvl 72M

and just what is this pedestrian interactive area that you talk about. Explain. Theres only a large square 10 mtrs over the road (VICTORIA SQUARE) that should be the spot for the 'pedestrian interactive area' Pedestrian interactive areas are areas which encourage pedestrian activity such as ...

[COM] Re: #Rejected: City Central Tower 8 20 Lvl 72M

The ACC is a constant source of amusement for me, Adelaide will never become one of the worlds great cities (despite what media mike and his cronies preach to the masses) unless it shakes this love hate relationship with development. And please an "interactive pedestrian" area, people go there to w...

Re: Proposal to Lift CBD Height Restrictions Defeated

In SA all development plan changes must be approved by the Minister for Planning. Therefore if ACC declared open skies there is a good chance that the Minister would knock it back.

Re: 2500 new homes for Gawler East

Providing housing a long way from employment, services, shops and social networks in a manner that requires them to do a lot of travelling by the most expensive means of transport is bad. Urban sprawl is economically, environmentally and socially unsustainable. Our state is not rich enough to sustai...

[VIS] Re: 33 Pirie Street - Concept

If you think about it really, this building has nothing to do with the heritage building in front. The western wall, which someone spoke of before - is merely a latter addition to the original structure, which is where the proposal will stand. The original heritage structure in no way will be affec...

[VIS] Re: 33 Pirie Street - Concept

We currently have a shortage of office space. If the council makes it known that they will not accept demolition or facadism of this building then a smart developer will jump in and restore and refurbish this building in a much quicker timeframe than a new building would allow.

Looks pretty good to me. Just because they're not currently making best use of it doesn't mean it should be demolished.

[VIS] Re: 33 Pirie Street - Concept

That is truly one of Adelaide's hidden gems and would become one of Adelaide's greatest losses if destroyed. The facadism of Chesser House, 77 Grenfell St and the east end markets (with the car park behind) doesn't work from a heritage or streetscape view. Buildings are much more than just a series ...

Re: Does Adelaide have a Chief Architect?

Some pros: -the govt receives architectural advice on its building projects leading to better govt buildings; -the govt receives architectural advice on its urban design projects leading to better public spaces (ie Vic Sq); -the chief architect can work with developers on controversial projects to a...

Re: Clipsal Site up for sale

Agents saying $60m - $70m...but I wonder how contaminated the site is and how much extra $$$ it will cost to clean up. PS Does the forum think a DFO [Discount Factory Outlet - like Harbourtown only bigger] would work here? Wasting this site on a shopping centre would be disastrous for the urban con...

Re: The Murray & Securing our water supply

We have only had about 15mm, the July average is about 80mm so we still need a lot more rain before we will start to get decent runoff entering our creek and river systems.
