The SA Politics Thread

I would suspect that the people of Waite voted for Martin Hamilton Smith, hoping he would be a minister, and he is. Ha ha !

The SA Politics Thread

As I have said previously it is not electoral boundaries or unfairness that keeps the liberals from government it's their own internal conflict that not only breads independents but then alienates them.

City living - what's your experience?

I looked around the CBD for options when the Kids left home, and ended up trading 4 bedrooms and 800sqm in suburbia for 100sqm of Torrens title town house in North Adelaide. If anything I miss my shed but there so many other benefits, I walk everywhere, probably eat out way more than I should but kn...

Re: The SA Politics Thread

The current boundaries are not the problem, it was the Liberals vicious campaigning against Liberal minded independents that lost them the election. It's personalities not votes that kept them from government.

Re: The SA Politics Thread

I see the federal Liberals are cutting $80bn from state funding, or $6bn to SA, = to 500 hospital beds and 3,000 teachers, if they can find 3,000 teachers or perhaps doctors and nurses who are still prepared to admit to voting Liberal they could be the first to volunteer to go. Re: The Federal Politics Thread

The real pain will start when the States have to pick up the $80b cut to education and hospitals. Besides being a broken election promise this equates to a $6bn cut to SA. What infrastructure heroes? put in a couple of $bn that would have eventually been spent on South road anyway and rip out $6bn, ...

Hockey said fund will start flowing next year?

You don't get a $20b fund by spending it, I think the money will be flowing in not out for many years to come.

News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

Looking at the map (above) there are only 9 new car parks between Flinders and Pirie anyway, so I am only talking about loosing 20 or so parks. It's a bit like North Tce I think there are less than a dozen parks on the northern side, removing these could create a dedicated bus lane or a bike lane. S...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

Still think it was the parking that needed to be removed both sides of Frome road not 2 traffic lanes. It's gone from 4 car lanes 2 parking and 0 bike lanes to 2 cars lanes 2 parking lanes and 2 bike lanes. I think it should be 2 bike lanes and 4 traffic lanes. A concrete strip could still separate ...

News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

I drove Frome street for the first time in peak hour tonight for regular Friday night dinner in Hutt street, unfortunately it was gridlock, it took 25 minutes to do 500m with both North South and East West traffic at a stand still of multiple sets of traffic lights. Even saw a couple of angry impati...
