[COM] Re: $1.7bn plan to build a new RAH
At the current rate of Liberal leaders we should see another 2 before the next election.

Re: City Central - Latest News
While most of the designs look nice I dont really like the idea of having an entire city block with all glass buildings - too repetitive for me, and especially if they all have that green glass that is used on CC1, and from my understanding CC2. ( The existing buildings on that block such as GPO &a...

Re: The Missing Piece/s
It has reopened since Urban. It was a way of JamFactory decreasing their financial burden in the short term. They just didn't take into account the associates that were there at the time. It basically put us out on the street. I have been back since and the studio is going from strength to strength...

Re: State Budget 2007
A project with the budget and location of Holdfast Shores should have won numerous state and possibly national architecture awards. How many awards did it pick up? The same mistakes happen over and over, good opportunities keep getting 1/2 hearted efforts. The difference between Melbourne and Adelai...

Re: The Missing Piece/s
Disappointing to hear the furniture studio has shut down. Many great designers have gone through that studio. Adelaide used to have a thriving furniture design industry, probably the best in Australia. If you see funky 60's or 70's furniture in 2nd hand stores have a look at the bottom and you will ...

Re: State Budget 2007
Holdfast shores did not have heritage issues. It's issues were - use of public land for private use; - environmental damage to the beach; - access between public reserve and beach blocked - Bland design; - poor connection between active frontages and pedestrian paths. The project would have actually...

Re: State Budget 2007
Heritage does generate investment and jobs. Studies have shown that for every dollar of assistance provided by Govt's for heritage, private investment matches it with 2. Creative societies find ways to adapt their heritage buildings and make them part of everyday life. In Europe you see McDonalds in...

Re: The Missing Piece/s
The small projects I suggested above have the greatest potential for true collaboration between artists, designers and architects. These types of public projects increase general awareness of art and help to educate. As people become aware they are more likely to purchase custom designed pieces for ...

[COM] Re: $1.7bn plan to build a new RAH
Also naming the road bridge "The Mary Mackillop Bridge" is also stupid seeing as she had nothing significant at all to do with the history of Port Adelaide in any shape or form. yeah she set up schools in other areas of adelaide but never Port Adelaide. And for the record she was born in ...

Re: article: Six weeks from water disaster
People shouldn't need to water their garden from May to October anyway.
We need more water infrastructure especially stormwater harvesting but we also need to change the mindset of gardeners.
I'm not a gardener's arsehole but my garden is thriving and I haven't watered anything since early March.

Great suggestions alfer7_3 Pirie St through Hindmarsh Sq should be closed to all traffic except commercial vehicles. I think a European style median strip bike lane with trees either side on Franklin/Flinders connecting the West Parklands and East parklands bike paths and connecting to the Balfours/...

Surely the train station for the hospital should be located as close as possible to North Tce so that it also services UNISA City West?
The proposed location only makes sense if they have another project planned btwn the hospital and the river.

[COM] Re: Proposal: 20 Hindmarsh Square (15 lvl Hotel, 14 lvl Apartmen
So walls on property boundaries must be fireproof? The type of use and no. of storeys determines the length of time they must be able to resist fire attack. The level of resistance decreases as the wall gets further away from the "fire source feature" until there is no resistance required...
