Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
What rubberman said about 'good debt versus bad debt', as far as I'm concerned, any sort of investment in infrastructure (be it public transport, sporting, arts and cultural) is a good investment; even if we pay for it down the line. It's what makes a city liveable and entices the retention of exist...

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
Great move: https://indaily.com.au/news/2023/07/26/vacant-cbd-buildings-ripe-for-apartments/ This feels like a massive wasted opportunity by the City of Adelaide to look more broadly at buildings around the centre of Adelaide that may be potential conversions to residential, not just the above grou...

Re: Thebarton Brewery Site Redevelopment
The tanks were being pulled down this morning, there was a large demolition rig tipping them over and rolling them into a neat row on the ground. Only three or four still standing when I went past. Strange considering they were covered and seemingly protected whilst demolition went on around them?

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
What's embarrassing is that in the time it's taken to deliver this project alone, the Melbourne Metro tunnel has pretty much been seen practical completion. It doesn't matter whose in government here, the delivery of these projects has historically been appalling. I'm all for electrifying Outer Harb...

I was going to say, the Harris Scarfe/BendigoAdelaide development would come close.Ursus Maritimus wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2023 4:22 pm60 King William St has smaller floors but it has 15 floors.prometheus2704 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2023 10:38 amDoes it beat the former Southern Cross Arcade site?

Re: [VIS] Old Women and Children's Hospital Site
A concert hall would be good, one is sorely needed . Coupled with a tram extension O'Connell's Street. Echo this, however I believe there are plans already in circulation for a concert hall on the site of the Adelaide Festival Centre function room, Marshall in conjunction with the ASO were working ...

[U/C] Re: 145-159 King William Street (GPO) | 61m | 16 Levels | Hotel
I'm arrogantly going to sit here and say that I (and a couple of others on this forum) told the naysayers so. Both with this and the neighbouring GPO Exchange/BHP building. Yes, they aren't spectacularly tall but the quality is there and ultimately THAT is what matters. Even if it's not been put for...

This was almost immediately followed by statements from the Tasmanian and South Australian Governments stating that they would not be putting their hands up to ...

[COM] Re: Coles Norwood Redevelopment | 8 Lvls
It's a stinker and weirdly lacks the character of its predecessor. However, Coles will have you believe that the upgrade was necessary because they let the old become dilapidated. The only saving grace is the mix of other retailers they've lured into the centre, Mascavado (also located on Hutt Stree...

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
Out of curiosity, the price tag of the Myer Centre was $1b at the time of construction. How ambitious might the owners be in terms of bulldozing the Rundle Mall frontage all together bringing the retail component within two/three floors and having residential/commercial space in the floors above? I ...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
Cotton On has closed their shopfront until September, presumably for renovations. Westpac have closed their Rundle Square branch. Perhaps in what seems like the beginning of an inevitable phase out of BankSA branches, I’ve noticed that Westpac has begun collocating itself with BankSA at their branch...

Saw that today’s state budget has allocated $23m towards upgrades to the Marion State Swimming centre, it’s a relatively new building?!
